25.01.2022 URGENT NOTICE After much deliberation over the past few days, especially after today’s revelations with the Corona Virus, the SNK Committee have decided to close the Kitchen until after Easter, when we will reassess the situation. We make this decision with utmost thought and with consideration of the health of both our volunteers and our guests. We have a duty of care to keep everyone safe during this uncertain time, therefore considering all aspects of our current situation... we have no other choice. Kind Regards SNK Committee

16.01.2022 Sunbury Neighbourhood Kitchen Due to recent abuse being suffered by members of the Sunbury Neighbourhood Kitchen both online and in person we find it necessary to explain to the public what we actually do as an organisation. Firstly we are not and have never been a food distribution centre! ... We operate with a Committee of ten people whom the majority of these members are over sixty years old. Each Monday we serve our guests a nutritious three course meal. We begin our work at 8am Monday and finish our night around 8 pm. This doesn’t include our drivers who collect and sort our food and supplies on Thursdays which is an added five hours. We need a volunteer base of at least forty people each Monday to operate the Kitchen. This includes a team of cooks, a team of food preparation people, a team to set up the tables, a team of people to serve from the Bain Marie’s, a team of people to work on the floor collecting plates etc from our guests and after it is all over we need a large team of volunteers to stay and pack up. We operate within the rules of the Department of Health. During these challenging times we are not prepared to put our Volunteers Health at risk. We are also not prepared to risk the health of the 140 guests we serve each Monday, many of whom are elderly and frail. We are not letting the community down by not opening as some members of the public believe. We are helping in other ways and working with both the Salvation Army and Careworks Sunbury to provide food to those in need. Tony Summers President Sunbury Neighbourhood Kitchen
