01.01.2022 During the 10 months while parkrun was absent, there were a number of Sunbury parkrunners who kept going with (not)parkrun. Well done to everyone who took part The top 3 from Sunbury were; Dusty Prewer 158 Ken Wheeler 132 ... Nancy Prewer 75 We thought it would be great to find out more about husband & wife duo Dusty and Nancy with some Q&A’s How did you get into parkrun, why and where was your first parkrun? Dusty: We were staying with Nancy’s sister in England and their madder-than-me-distance-running nextdoor neighbour suggested I go with him to their local parkrun despite it only being 5km. (Sunbury parkrun started about 2 months later.) Nancy: We were dog-sitting in Bendigo while our daughter was in labour. Still no news on Saturday morning and Dusty announced he was off to the Bendigo parkrun. I figured I could walk 5km to pass the time. I started at a jog, and kept thinking that my daughter couldn’t choose to stop, and ended up running 5km for the first time in over 30 years! Favourite parkrun location? Nancy: The Eden Project in Cornwall. And in Victoria - Mount Beauty (flat and scenic) Dusty: Albert Park (flat and scenic!) What did you miss whilst parkrun was absent? The community and camaraderie. What made you decide to take part in (non)parkrun? Nancy: Dusty records my runs. Dusty: I’m obsessive. (Nancy provided this answer. We were doing the runs anyway.) Where is your favourite (non)parkrun location? Nancy: Emu Bottom Wetlands Dusty: The Skyline and the Nook (starting from the TOP of the hill) What do you like about parkrun? Nancy: The fact that it’s got me back into running. I wouldn’t be running now if parkrun didn’t exist. Dusty: That wherever you are on a Saturday morning there is always a parkrun nearby (in normal times). Favourite running memory? Nancy: Most of my runs in the Victorian bush - Wombat State Forest, Lerderderg, Bright, Dusty: 23 July 1986, a beautiful long run in the hills above Strathpeffer, Scotland, on a rare warm and sunny day while Nancy was at a royal wedding party watching the telecast of Prince Andrew & Fergie getting married. (Nancy: Any excuse to go for a 3 or 4 hour run leaving me with the baby.)
