19.01.2022 It is grading week at our dojo and we hope you are all very excited to complete your first grading this Saturday! We will be polishing our techniques and combinations in class this week, so make sure that you attend! Sensei Fritz has just returned from the annual AOGKF brown & black belt training camp (gasshuku) in Canberra over the weekend where he had the opportunity to train with the top instructors in Australia. He has many new insights and exercises to share with the class. He also completed the black belt grading and was awarded his second degree black belt (Nidan). Here are some photos of the weekend taken by Colin Dibble.

19.01.2022 We train hard: we punch, kick and fight with everything we've got. And we have heaps of fun doing it! Join Suncoast Traditional Karate to train with like-minded people and make friends for life. For more information, check out our website at www.sckarate.com

19.01.2022 COVID-19 DOJO CLOSURES A MESSAGE FROM THE AOGKF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE As you are all very well aware the COVID-19 virus has shut down most of normal life as we k...now it and that means that we are not allowed to train inside any of our Dojo's effective immediately. Our Executive Committee wants to assure all AOGKF members that we are working on ways to still be able to train within the legal requirements. We realise that our normal Dojo training is no longer an option. Soon we are going to start using a system that has been around for a while called the 'virtual Dojo'. The virtual Dojo is where the student will log online and be able to progress their individual training using the internet. By completing the classes online, a student will still be able to sit for an assessment and grading, but online. We don’t exactly know how long it will take to implement but I can assure you all that we are working as hard as we can to get this system up and running as soon as possible. For information regarding individual Dojo's, please contact your instructor directly. As is probably clear to you all, the NSW, QLD & VIC State Gasshuku's will no longer run over the next two weeks. Further information will be posted as matters progress. We wish you good health and happiness over the coming months. Yours truly AOGKF Executive Committee

19.01.2022 We are two months into classes for the year and we are so proud of the dedication and fighting spirit our old and new students are showing!

18.01.2022 Our students are showing great form and discipline! Last night we worked on our pulling power and partner drills - we included some monkey business for good measure!

18.01.2022 We hope you've enjoyed your time off. The Easter Bunny has dropped you some mail over the weekend and we are excited to hop back into the rhythm of training. Online karate classes are kicking off this Wednesday 15 April! When? Every Monday and Wednesday. Kids 17:00 to 17:45 and Teens/adults 18:00 18:30... Where? In the comfort of your home, wherever you have space to kick and punch without knocking something over. How? All members will receive a private Zoom meeting invitation and instructions. You’ll need a computer, tablet or phone with a camera and internet connection on which to watch and participate in the class. Keep an eye on your inbox for further instructions. If you think you may have missed out on the email or would like some more information on the classes, please send us a message.

17.01.2022 Online karate is back on this evening. Kids @ 17:00, teens and adults @ 17:45. See you later for a good old sweat session!

15.01.2022 No class today! The current coronavirus/COVID-19 health threat is forcing us to rethink the way we practice the karate we love. There will be no classes at the YMCA until further notice.... But: this doesn't mean that we're going to stop training! Together with AOGKF instructors all across Australia, we are looking into conducting our classes online. Watch this space for some very exciting information about this opportunity. Let's all be safe and take this virus seriously, but let's also be thankful that we have the technology to keep training hard! Talk to you soon Fritz

14.01.2022 Get ready to kick up some sand at our annual karate beach day! More info to follow via email!

13.01.2022 It is a little overcast this morning but our training at the beach is still going ahead as planned. See you all at 09:00 in the parking lot at Coco's Café at Currimundi Lake today. Remember to bring your sunscreen, hat and water bottle

13.01.2022 A reminder that there will be no class today. Sensei Fritz is in Japan for the next two weeks and is looking forward to welcoming everyone back to class on Wednesday 9 October. Enjoy the time off! May you all have a happy and safe school holiday!

10.01.2022 How to prepare for tonight's class: Try and have the following things done at least 15minutes before the kids class starts at 17:00 and the adults class at 18:00 to prevent feeling rushed or anxious. 1. Get dressed in your gi or comfortable exercise clothes ... 2. Fill up your water bottle and have your towel nearby 3. Make sure you have enough space for your movements 4. Position your laptop, tablet or cellphone in a spot where you can see Sensei Fritz on the screen and can hear his instructions. 5. Follow the Zoom invitation link sent earlier today 6. Have FUN! See more

10.01.2022 Keeping up your karate training? Remember our dojo kun: practice daily. This photo is of our founder, Chojun Miyagi, instructing a group of students. Their "dojo" was outside! Some of them are wearing their karate uniforms, but some are just training in their regular clothes. You can practice all your karate techniques at home. As long as you have a bit of space so you're not knocking anything over, you're good to go!... Set yourself a goal of 100 chest punches and 100 front kicks a day. And if you have energy left after that, do it again. Add some push-ups and squat kicks for flavour. The AOGKF's "virtual dojo" plans are coming along nicely and soon you'll be able to follow a complete class on your phone, tablet or laptop. Until then, stay safe and keep fit.
