25.01.2022 Huge applause goes to that awesome human who thought of making wine out of grapes. They’ve been instrumental to the society surviving 2020! But...all jokes aside, these particular grapes actually don't make wine. Wine grapes are much smaller, sweeter and often have a lot more seeds. Whereas, Table Grapes (the ones we eat) have thicker skin, fewer seeds and less acidity. At this time of year they’re grown right here in sunny Queensland. In a 2017 study by Deakin University, adults with major depressive disorder were selected and randomly assigned to receive either social support, which is known to be helpful for people with depression or support from a clinical dietitian, over a three-month period. The diet-focused group were educated on healthy eating and increased their consumption of vegeta...bles, fruits, whole grains, legumes, fish, lean red meats, olive oil and nuts. Then reduced unhealthy foods like sweets, sugary drinks, refined cereals, fried food, fast food and processed meat. The results published in BMC Medicine showed that members in the dietary intervention group had a much greater reduction in their depressive symptoms. At the end of the trial, a third of those in the dietary support group met criteria for remission of major depression, compared to 8% of those in the social support group."
