25.01.2022 Let’s have a look at the difference between fluoro and lumo first off in the left hand side- it’s the glow circle hook for reference. Top left is a dimmer lig...ht in a dawn or dusk scenario with no Uv or lumo charge. On the right hand side is what we see with the naked eye. Even the fish are lining up at the vise for a sniff of this action Get yours here for $7 on BKK circles or octopus beaks- no minimum order this week $3.50 postage #bkkhooksaustralia #snapper #cobia #bigfish

25.01.2022 How’s that for a pearly, loving the pink knobby whackers. Working in collaboration with Tuff terminal tackle to bring U rig it kits to life this Summer featu...ring Glo Egg sinkers This one with the 5oz head and yellow squid armed with twin 7/0 Shoguns and a big squid strip. Don’t mess around- bomb it to the bottom and have enough weight to keep it there but be flexible with letting it rise off the bottom while you wait for it to get smashed. These have interchangeable heads for various weights, can be custom colours and come with 3 hook set ups. 25.01.2022 Who can tell whats wrong here... this is whats wrong with the tackle industry!!!! All about lies and deception!!! Popular magazine. Want honesty. Find a proper tackle shop that won't lie to sell lures!

25.01.2022 How’s that for a quality bag out of snapper. The mixed coral reef pack aimed at up north is leaving it’s mark on the SEQ sections of the coast too quite evidently

25.01.2022 Alright, let’s see who’s got a witty sense of humour today

24.01.2022 Another solid snapper or few struggling to resist the temptation of the newest additions to the range of existing flashers on offer

23.01.2022 New concept to look out for guys. There’s just some applications that call for a little bit of innovation that works and this is one of them

23.01.2022 Back up Go-Pro providing a rather average quality great pic to mark a couple of memorable fish. 82 and 85 from the NE 36s off Goldy last week. 3 drifts, 5 fis...h and home time after a slow afternoon waiting on the gravitational influences doing their thing. 8/0 beak in green baitfish with a floating pilly and 8/0 circle Holman special pattern pinned into a whole squid. #uvflasher #suncoastskutes #snappacandi #goldcoastfishing #snapperfishing

23.01.2022 You can’t buy this from China Lumo underwater pic in comments

23.01.2022 Flumo flashers, what are they? A handmade Australian product using Australian suppliers and small local businesses. BKK hooks come from the legends at Nomad and the rest from Sunshine Coast.

23.01.2022 Just throwing it out there but seriously who wants to learn to tie their own Skutes and have the resources of materials to suit their needs?

22.01.2022 Skinning a mahi from a recent trip offshore, Moreton. I was shown this a couple of years ago by one of my local fish suppliers, Tweed Coast Fresh Fish. I think... it could definitely come in handy for some this summer, especially the smaller ones marinaded on the grill plate. Few scores down the side after gutting and cleaning. Run down each side of the pin bones and remove once cooked. Cook ontop of grease proof paper to assist flipping during cooking and create less mess fo clean when finished. Enjoy #mahimahi #flasherrigs #dolphinfish #catchandcookfishing #filletingskills #upskillyourself #pelagic #snappacandi

22.01.2022 KNOBBY WHACKERS!! Www.Suncoastskutes.com Available sizes ... Bomb them, float them, sink them or jig them. No need to change your style with these 3 options Doesn’t really matter just make sure you’ve got enough weight to make it down 3/4oz all the way to 6oz in eggs and starting at $10 for the 3/4oz and upto $15.00 for 6oz. 8-16oz also available for extreme conditions. All sizes sold as spare heads too, just swap them in the split ring. If a 6oz doesn’t make it down then and only then consider dropping down to a small glow head or none at all and hanging it off the back of a sliding sinker if current is ripping. Floatline pre tied rigs available at $10 each for 1, 1.5 and 2oz with the 7/0 VMC twin gang on 40lb or 50lb. Heavier sinker options available on 80lb and 120lb with stronger hooks for up north for reds etc. Video is in 70m with a 4oz head, claimed the sharked amberjack earlier on in the day using the same approach

21.01.2022 It was a slow evening with the fish biting very tentatively last night, the lack of run was the main cause of the slow fishing, but we still managed to land a f...ew good fish and bag out early. Was good to see a couple of 75cm+ fish swim away after we had bagged out. The Holman specials hybrid flashers from SunCoast Skutes. we’re doing the damage last night, with mullet fillet and squid as bait. Had a great night with Andy Melville and James Addley, look forward to the next trip! See more

21.01.2022 Repost from @smithysfishing Here is another snapper from last weekend. This one on a @suncoast_skutes tied BKK Octopus Circle. #bkk #bkkhooks #suncoastskutes ...#snapper #bait #rainbowbeach (Anyone on here that follows me elsewhere will know I’m an avid supporter of Smithys Fishing Charters whether it’s cracking PB snapper, bagging out on reefies or mackerel there’s never been a dull trip for me with Rob. An absolute pleasure to see decent snapper and support for the product during the Rainbow comp this year- thank you)

20.01.2022 Wicked 70s model falling victim to a single 8/0 circle out of Moreton for Rob. As always it’s hugely appreciated when our guys stop and make the effort to get these great pics for me to share with you legends #snappacandi #uvflashers #handtied #localssupportinglocal #bkkhooksaustralia

19.01.2022 Started the day with colorful fish including a very respectable Red. Finished the day on a hot bite of large Snapper on the float lines. 4 way hook ups on 70cm plus Snapper using Tuff Terminal Tackle "Glo Eggs". What a day on Rainbow Escape Charters

18.01.2022 As some of my loyal followers will know, it’s not all snapper that will smash a skute. I’m lucky to still get these great photos trickling through from time to ...time from James- armed with a stack of knowledge on barra guiding, fly tying, and generally being a great guy. 18.01.2022 What’s the difference between my gear and anyone else’s? Well- it’s not for me to say but let’s just say I sold my first flasher 8 months ago and I’m not exact...ly resting on my laurels going into next year. www.SuncoastSkutes.com is starting to take traction and provide the space to create and innovate again Keep an eye out for the new gear including mackerel rigs, mahi rigs, snapper rigs, flasher patterns and styles, terminal tackle and other goodies going into the collection over December. #flasherrigsandtackle #aussiemade #offshorefishing #fishingaustralia #goldcoast #brisbane #fishingtackleshop #snappercandy #saltwaterfishing #baitfishing

14.01.2022 It’s never too early to floatline for snapper. After the northerly winds for a few days and the green water offshore is when you’ll get them on the usual bait ...grounds out wide. Same goes for pearlies and other reef species , they don’t really migrate, they just get hard to reach some days in the current and distractions of big pelagics. These rigs go upto 3oz and boast a twin gang of double strength Gamakatsu SC-15 tarpons with 60lb Tiagra trace. Designed for targeting bill fish on the fly these hooks are crazy strong and punch well above their weight which is why they are perfect for presenting smaller strip baits and ensuring solid hook ups. These hooks can also be sharpened between use unlike the chemically sharpened carbon ones. The flasher is a slider locked in place to the swivel by lumo rigging tube to prevent chafing on the line or the flasher itself. What this means is the whole lot can slide up the trace while you do your dehooking chores and can also swap out the hooks or transfer into a new trace. It’s the rig that keeps on giving (until you loose it) The swivel allows the bait to swing and gives it a bit more action in the water. Serving suggestion- use a thinner bait such as mullet strip because it has good oil content and tougher skin with about 2 hanging off the back with a split in it so it swims and flaps in the current. Everything will smash these rigs www.SuncoastSkutes.com $10 a rig for 1 and 1.5oz $11 a rig for 2 and 3oz #customrigs #gamakatsu #floatline #snapperfishing #pearlies #emperorfishing #1770 #goldcoast #brisbane #moretonisland #frasercoast #sunshinecoast #capricorncoast #greatbarrierreef #nswfishing

14.01.2022 It’s no secret, I fckn lurve tusky! Mainly it’s ability to crisp up and marbles fat content along with it’s diet of shellfish or makes for an awesome table fish... in any home! This is a miso glaze which is sake and mirin reduced by half its volume and miso blended in to taste. As I turn the fish I drench the fish with plenty of glaze allowing it to soak into the skin and caramelise around the meat as it slides off. A quick swirl around the pan and a squeeze of lime, take the fish out to rest and finish cooking before braising greens in the same pan. By this I mean take the fish out while it still holds plenty of heat and has another minute of cooking to go- this residual heat is more than enough to continue cooking that last 10% and is all the difference between good and perfect! Pics in comments will make sense of this one pan no fuss style of cooking. Make plenty of glaze as it is banging on steaks and pork too and lasts forever

12.01.2022 Hey guys, hope you don’t mind me spreading the gospel word!

12.01.2022 Black marlin 45-80kg on live baits are going off at the moment on the bait grounds around spot X on Gold Coast. Save these coordinates and grab yourself a bunch... of Slimeys on the way out or pack heavier weights to jig some up out there. 27 54 048 S 153 44 641 E BKK Heavy Glow Circles in 9/0!! Are perfect for securing the strong hook set especially during aerial displays. Find the bait and the fish won’t be far away. In an ideal world when you a marlin you’ll be able to feed out the rough depth it was sitting at. They sit off the side of bait taking turns to agitate it and pick off injured or fleeing fish coming off the sides. Your livey is in the strike zone and visible to a marlin before a shark takes it. Bridle the livey with a decent elastic band to give maximum hook exposure or pin it through the nostrils sideways. Let the fish commit to eating it before getting stuck into it. More importantly check your drag, your gear, your knots and make sure the go pro is charged $100 voucher to the first marlin submitted before Winter on Suncoast Skutes gear. I don’t sponsor anyone as such which is why I’d rather use my marketing budget organically to reward a lucky customer

11.01.2022 Fun fact- fish can see in ultra violet. In this case when I hit a flasher with a UV torch it lights up like Christmas so what that means is exposed to sunlight... in the water when the light reflects these are actually the tones that will be dispersed. Just not as bright as what is shown here. Point I’m making here is when you buy something on face value, does anyone actually know what they are buying? This is a BKK hook, flouro eye and threads with UV glow core, lumo glow top, scale drop design flash blends (my own mix) and UV feathers finished off with Raidzap which is an essential for tough binding and hardened finished resin. I’ll be posting in Blacklight or wet profiles for a while for a number of reasons #raidzap #handtiedflies #uvlight #flasherrig #snappacandi #snapperfishing #melbourne #queensland #goldcoast #sydney

09.01.2022 Here’s to next year legends and keeping on track through the ups and downs. I think I speak for myself and many others within this circle- it’s been testing an...d still ongoing but to be honest it’s not been all crap. Coming out of a kitchen and stable job into the unknown of making my own gear the way I do, has been daunting and often unrewarding some weeks. I had to lose most of myself through lock down and face some tough choices to rebuild myself towards the person I’ve been aspiring to be. I’m still here and have it all to look forward to next year. Not to mention I’ve smacked a couple of great fish with new friends this year, an overall highlight for me And that’s thanks to you guys- again I reiterate a huge thank you everyone from my suppliers to my non supporters, I’m in a good spot as a result Sincerely all the very best and tight lines for the coming year from myself and Freyja. #goodbye2020 #onwardsansupwards #localmade #bestgearthisyear #challengeyourself #reachout #beproud

On that note custom orders will soon become no more than 5 lures with at least a 3 week wait time as my bills and general well being are being put first going into 2021- as always a massive thank you from me and the dog for your patience and understanding on this subject. https://youtu.be/552MdW9xYgc

02.01.2022 Bit of weekend inspiration for you all

01.01.2022 I was going to merge the changes over a few weeks, however after watching my business model and ideas including my product names and descriptions being ripped o...ff that changed tonight. My range of flashers and lures will go by the name of SnappaCandi available as lures or flashers which is sold by the registered business - Suncoast Skutes. Of course as always a huge thank you to everyone on board and supporting the slow growth over the last couple of months as I figured a few things out. Here’s where I’m at right now and next few weeks. I’ve got some significant shifts with my offshore packs focusing on value, design, quality and a reduced price to help you guys fish flasher packs for longer before they are taxed, busted off or snagged. I am stoked to say I’m still continuing work with my jig head supply as an exclusive service offered to me- this will have a huge ongoing success in the builds of all my lures (including some new phat Shad style ones which we are all a bit excited for which will have 7/0 8/0 and 9/0). We will start to see a steady stream of octo jigs SnappaCandi style available in coming weeks once I clear some custom packs. Gang hooks are in stock as 5/0 Mustad and 4/0 VMC sold as open builds at the moment to create your own and take the strain off my wrists otherwise I can’t tie full time. Happy to do tandem ties with synthetics and minimal feathers also with UV glow and flouro materials. Speaking of feathers I have some really cool colours in stock and in the courier pipeline just to mix it up. Big Johns larger heads have been making their way through behind the scenes with a couple of big barrier reef packs going out and another delivery en route this week so keep an eye out for inspiration on the kingfish and XL snapper for the deeper water seasons. Currently I’m running jig heads down while I wait for my next batch being prepped for painting. I have a restock of BKK 6/0 and 8/0 beaks and 8/0 lumo circles with 6/0 circles on back order. I still plan to run a friendly comp in September for all existing and new customers who’ll all be given a code and quick outlay if the simple rules. 2 fish combined longest length wins, can upgrade throughout the month etc. everyone entering catches on my product will receive store credit for one free flasher on next purchase. For inexperienced fishos chasing snapper I’ll be offering the opportunity to buy pre made rigs which will help out with replicating them in future. Lastly I have started to accept postage of your own hooks for bulk custom orders if I do not stock what you are looking for. Cost on custom orders like these ones will be $1 per minute after materials are prepped which sounds expensive but trust me less the cost of materials it’s a bargain. What’s else? Possible SnappaCandi custom fishing shirts when the new logo is finalised, I can’t show it or it’ll get copied before I can use it no doubt Lastly from me, I kindly ask all of you legends to take a minute and grab photos, leave a review, share a post from the page, hashtag Suncoast Skutes Whether it’s your rigs baited up in various ways, catches, your product arriving etc all photos and feedback is hugely appreciated and I honestly can’t thank you all enough recently Bottoms up, tight lines and good health everybody. Andy

01.01.2022 Great to meet the guys at KastKing yesterday. Watch this space guys, I’ve got my hands on something ideal for snapper and mackerel to play around with. I’ll be putting the 26lb of front and 3 lb of rear drag to good use next few weeks
