20.01.2022 Hello friends! As you may be aware, Sunday Sessions at the Briars is a free community event run and funded by Bay Events. Last series we received a government grant to help us to fund the events. This year unfortunately, we haven't received any financial support which means as much as we love creating the events and a space for the community to come together, it's just not viable to run the three Sunday Sessions at the Briars that we had been hoping for in 2020. Instead we wi...ll run just the ONE event, Sunday 5th January 11am-5pm in the Bull Paddock at the Briars. (Same site as the last series.) The good news is it will be a MASSIVE event filled with only the best of the best, seeing as we've got just one day to knock your socks off! 17.01.2022 It is with much sadness and an extremely heavy heart that we have made the decision to CANCEL the Sunday Sessions at the Briars. For those you who don't know, The Sunday Sessions at the Briars has always been funded by Bay Events who have worked tirelessly to bring a free family community event series to the Mornington Peninsula. We have been trying to secure funding to help with the extensive costs involved in creating a community event to this scale, but unfortunately we re...ceived no funding this year of any sort to help us out. Last year we received a government grant which allowed us to put on the events and to break even financially. The Sunday Sessions at the Briars has never been about making money. Often it would run at a loss but we enjoyed creating a space for the local families to enjoy a day outside in beautiful surrounds whilst also giving local businesses, community groups, musicians and organisations a platform to engage with the locals and to promote themselves. We are very proud of what we have achieved with the series so far. Unfortunately, we just couldn't take the risk of potentially losing a substantial amount of money should the weather not be kind to us for the one and only Sunday Sessions at the Briars event that we were to hold in 2020. So the tough decision was made to cancel the event. We hope to come back with the Sunday Sessions at the Briars in 2021. We have a year to work out how to fund it. Perhaps you will support a $5 ticket charge? Maybe we will attract some event sponsors? But as it is, we just can't do it without having sufficient funding behind us. We thank you so much for your understanding and to those who have attended previous events or who have secured tickets for this event via Eventbrite, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support. 09.01.2022 Our thoughts are currently with all the people affected by the bushfires. Residents from Mallacoota are arriving today at the Somerville Recreation Centre which is transforming into emergency accommodation for many families. Bay Events who run the Sunday Sessions at the Briars have been setting up marquees for their pets and ask that if you have a spare few dollars, it would be wonderful if you could donate what you may have spent at the Sunday Sessions at the Briars to the Bushfire Disaster Appeal instead.
