I am currently preparing the paperwork for the Ararat Wind Farm Sustainable Grants Program on behalf of the Community Association Halls Gap - Grampians Flora Botanic Gardens, applying for a grant towards half the cost of the chipper / mulcher. Our fundraising is progressing! Our chances of success will be improved if we can obtain several Letters of Support from some of you, either as individuals, community organisations or businesses. If anyone out there has exper...ienced the enjoyment of a visit (or multiple visits) to our Gardens and has an appreciation for the hard work put in by our Volunteers & can appreciate the environmental, sustainable benefits to be achieved from the mulch to be created from the addition of this piece of equipment, then please email me your Letter of Support so it can be included with the Grant Application ASAP. 19.01.2022 Margot G has started her insect research programme. She's investigating what ants live in the garden. She's set up small cup traps in different spots in the gar...den, each marked with a small flag. Each cup trap contains a small amount of ethanol plus sugar syrup, so not poisonous to children or dogs, but do try to keep them away. The traps will be there for a few days, checked mornings and evenings. Once she catches the ants, she'll examine them under a microscope and work on identifying them. Then we'll let you know the results. Such an interesting project! See more

05.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we let you know that one of the Ring-tailed lemur twins has sadly passed away. We are so proud of our dedicated primate team who ...ensured that at every stage Asha and her new family had as little stress as possible within a quiet and warm environment during these first few weeks. This is one of the tough realities of the animal world and nature knowing what is ultimately best even though it is sometimes hard for us to make sense of it all. We believe that this pup was not as strong and even with Asha's best intentions it was not meant to be. But we are happy to say that the other lemur baby is doing so well and growing bigger and stronger every day. As you can see in the photos below, it is starting to spend time on its mums back and looking around at its surroundings. Our little lemur family is on display but they also have access to their back den area at all times, so it might take a little bit longer to see them but it is definitely worth the wait

03.01.2022 The Halls Gap Historical Association has donated us a seat beside the Sullivan memorial. It is made from recycled plastic. David Witham, Janet and Margo put it together with some help from passers by. The view from the seat is superb.
