19.01.2022 COFFEE TALK! If giving up your favorite morning beverage isn’t an option, prevent stains by cutting back and drinking less. Like any drink that isn’t water, coffee can cause bacteria to grow in your mouth which can lead to staining, tooth and enamel erosion. Brush your teeth about 30 minutes after drinking coffee, and only after rinsing your mouth with water. Remember, coffee is acidic. Brushing your teeth immediately after eating or drinking anything acidic weakens... tooth enamel and causes staining. Lastly, don’t neglect regular brushing and visits to your local family dentist twice a year. TIP -If you prefer iced coffee, drink it through a straw to reduce the risk of stains.

09.01.2022 IMPORTANCE OF FLUORIDE IN YOUR TOOTHPASTE! Fluoride protection against tooth decay is needed throughout life. Using fluoride toothpaste twice a day is one of the most effective ways for you and your children to stay decay free. Fluoride in toothpaste makes teeth more resistant to the acids produced after eating or drinking. Fluoride also helps put back minerals that are lost from the teeth and can even reverse the early stages of tooth decay. Children under the age of 6 tend to swallow rather than spit out excess toothpaste, they need to use a low fluoride toothpaste. In some children a higher strength fluoride may be required, on the advice of your dental professional. After age 6, children should use toothpaste with more fluoride.
