Recently, our cofounder Sonia Goodwin, was asked by the wonderful people at The DeLorean Project to be a 'Shark' on their Shark Tank Program! Of course Sonia jumped into this opportunity ... This amazing program focuses on developing future entrepreneurs. 15yr old youths pitched their ideas to Sonia and two other panelists; who helped them amplify their idea, think bigger and problem solve real social issues. Sonia and Dr Nova will remain involved in mentoring 5 groups of young entrepreneurs on the Sunshine Coast. Our clinicians are asked questions around the purpose of medications, how meds work for specific diagnoses, contraindications, what happens when you miss doses, and how much of a specific medication is a good thing! Thousands more went through the criminal legal system. Sadly, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are disproportionately impacted by these laws, accounting for 70 per cent of these younger children in prisons.... 16.01.2022 Sunny Street clinicians reach out to provide outreach healthcare to people living on the streets. People feeling vulnerable. People needing help in some aspect... of their lives. It's worth keeping in mind that we all need help at some point in our lives, and we're all in this together Homelessness is quite often hidden from view, and communities can be unaware that individuals and families are sleeping rough. Homelessness is sleeping rough, couch surfing, living in temporary or shared/overcrowded dwellings, or having a home where the tenure is not secure. In Australia, 1.2 million people live in poverty, with over 700,000 of these people being children It is important to recognise when you might be on the presence of someone's camp or space. Look for bedding including sleeping bags, trolleys or blankets, food present, personal belongings and clothing. Be respectful of individuals. Be kind. If it's safe, say hello and ask how they are. A conversation can make all the difference to someone feeling vulnerable and/or lonely. Can you offer a donation of food, or a good hot cup of coffee? Pet food for the animal by their side? If you feel an individual needs more assistance, you can ask their permission to link them into local services or the local community centre. Connection and kindness is everything. Q: Do I need a DR referral or appointment? A: No. COVID testing clinic is open to anyone! Q: Do I need to have respiratory symptoms to get tested? A: No. Other symptoms can include vomiting or diarrhoea. If you are concerned about your health, get a test. Many people with COVID don't present with obvious symptoms. It is important to encourage yourself and people in your community to get tested if they feel concerned. Q: How do I book a test? A: Call 07 5313 7778. Or come by our testing clinic, we accept walk-ins! Q: How long do test results take? A: 24-72 hours. This depends on the testing backlog at the time. Results will be SMS'd to a phone of your choice.
