25.01.2022 Image Queensland Real Estate COVID Safe Industry Plan 7 December 2020 This year has been challenging for the real estate industry and many businesses throughout Queensland. As we move towards the end of 2020 and get used to the ‘new normal’, it is important to remain vigilant and be prepared to contain future outbreaks of COVID-19. ... In order to achieve this, we have consulted with health authorities, representatives of peak property industry bodies and stakeholders to assist the real estate industry to develop the Queensland Real Estate COVID Safe Industry Plan. Approved by the Chief Health Officer, the plan is a resource to help real estate businesses and professionals continue to operate under Queensland’s current COVID-19 restrictions. COVID Safe Plans will continue to be reviewed and updated in line with the easing of restrictions. Businesses must continue to comply with general Chief Health Officer directions and requirements, such as observing physical distancing and collecting and keeping customer contact information. Information on the most recent health directions including Businesses, activities and undertakings and Going out, travel, recreation and gathering in Queensland are available on the Queensland Health website. If you have any questions regarding the Chief Health Officer directions and requirements, please call 134 COVID (13 42 68) or visit the Queensland Health website. 14.01.2022 'Job Maker' plan As the nation continues to move out of lockdown, the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, has stated the government will now focus on rebuilding the economy and winning the battle for jobs. The PM unveiled his Job Maker plan to overhaul vocational education and training (VET) and to secure jobs for Australias future. The program will encourage small, medium and large businesses and the Prime Minister flagged changes to the funding model which sees $1.5 billio...n of VET funding flow to state governments annually for skills and training. Young Australians arent being enrolled in courses which will fill the jobs of the future, he argues, citing the complexity of the clunky, unresponsive, and fundamentally flawed vocational education and training (VET) system as a barrier. Tax and industrial relations are also on the Job Maker agenda. Over the next three to five years, the Prime Minister stated the federal government will work with state and territory leaders to make sweeping changes but has not increased funding in the short term. Coronavirus Active Case Numbers continue to Dive In Queensland there are currently only 14 active COVID-19 cases and the national total is below 500. Most Queenslanders who have contracted COVID-19 have experienced mild symptoms. Currently, four of the 14 active confirmed cases are in hospital, with one of these in intensive care. The remainder of active cases are currently recovering at home. There remains some risk of a secondary wave as we move from lockdown status and as such Health and Government authorities stress the need to remain vigilant with social distancing and hand hygiene practices. A total of 1,041 Queenslanders (98 per cent of total cases) have now recovered from COVID-19.

12.01.2022 In what has been declared the biggest win to come from this year’s budget, businesses can now write off the full value of assets acquired after Tuesday night and first used by mid-2022. On Tuesday evening, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg announced a number of business-backing measures, but one that has attracted the most praise is temporary full expensing, worth $26.7 billion. The Treasurer referred to the measure as a game changer, noting that it will cover 3.5 million businesse...s, helping them unlock investment, dramatically expand their productive capacity and create tens of thousands of jobs. Losses incurred up to 202122 can be carried back against profits made in or after 201819. Eligible companies may elect to receive a tax refund when they lodge their 202021 and 202122 tax returns. "This will provide a targeted cash flow boost that businesses across the country desperately need," said Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. "Normally, businesses would have to return to profit before they can use their losses, however, these are not normal times." This measure is estimated to deliver $4.9 billion in tax relief to businesses over the forward estimates, and $3.9 billion over the medium term. Temporary full expensing To support new investment and increase business cash flow, the government is providing a temporary tax incentive to around 3.5 million businesses that employ around 11.5 million workers. As announced by the Treasurer, on 6 October 2020 until 30 June 2022, businesses with turnover up to $5 billion will be able to deduct the full cost of eligible depreciable assets of any value in the year they are installed. The cost of improvements to existing eligible depreciable assets made during this period can also be fully deducted.

11.01.2022 I have agreed as SCC President to help our food industry review and improve the Councils EAT SAFE PROGRAM. Here is their official program. please share with anyone that provides food. It's time to review Eat Safe Brisbane. In 2010, Brisbane City Council launched the Eat Safe Brisbane food safety rating scheme, providing a star rating system for food businesses in Brisbane. Since this time, there has been a shift in the variety and diversity of the food offering available, in...cluding how these are delivered to the public. Eat Safe Brisbane has been successful in providing greater consistency in the regulation of food businesses within Brisbane, by implementing a clear and transparent framework and ensuring an audit frequency is based on performance of the individual food business. To mark the ten-year anniversary of Eat Safe Brisbane, there is an opportunity to conduct a full review the schemes framework and identify any issues, gaps and any opportunities for improvement. Brisbane Food Businesses we want to hear from you. Brisbane City Council are holding a series of free engagement events for food businesses throughout Brisbane, including group, one-on-one and online sessions. These events are an opportunity for your food business to discuss the scheme in regards to: Your customer journey using Eat Safe Brisbane - your thoughts, feelings and experiences. How you currently build or would like to build a food safety culture within your business. How you believe Eat Safe Brisbane should be promoted to increase public awareness of the scheme and better support local food businesses in the future. Alternatively, we are offering one-on-one chats online at a time that suits you. Please email [email protected] to register your interest. 06.01.2022 Know your boosts inside and out 15 September 2020 If you've received a cash flow boost, you may be wondering if the amounts you've received affect your income or deductions this tax time.... Here are the four essentials you need to know when lodging your tax return: You don't pay tax on cash flow boost amounts as they're non-assessable non-exempt income. You may still need to report the amounts in your tax return for other purposes. Read the relevant tax return instructions for your business structure for more information. You're still entitled to a deduction for the payments made to your workers provided you have complied with the pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and reporting obligations for that payment. If you pass the cash flow boost on to others, there may be tax consequences for the recipient. If you claim the research and development tax offset, your claim isn't affected by any cash flow boost you receive. Remember, a registered tax agent can help you with your tax. Next step: If you're having difficulty meeting your tax and super obligations because of COVID-19, contact our Emergency Support Infoline on 1800 806 218
