23.01.2022 Happy National Nutrition Week! If your appetite is not as good as it used to be or you struggle to prepare meals, it can be difficult to get enough nutrients to... remain healthy and independent in your own home. The good news is that Meals on Wheels provides well-portioned meals to meet 1/3 of your daily nutritional needs. This means that you don’t have to worry about choosing foods or ready-made meals that have the nutrients that are most important for you. See more

12.01.2022 During her lifetime, Queensland Meals on Wheels Chair, Roslyn Broom has held leadership roles across several community organisations and says women have always ...played an integral role in how those organisations successfully operate. While her experience with gender equality within community groups has been overwhelmingly positive, this has not always been the case within her own working career. Roslyn explained In the beginning of my career, in the 1960s, women did not receive equal pay or were entitled to superannuation. They had to resign by law when they were married and were never offered senior positions, which were always given to men. Eventually, after much campaigning, women were given the right to stay on in their jobs after they were married. Although gender equality has certainly come a long way within Australia since the 1960s, Roslyn says she would like to see all women - regardless of age, culture, or background - enjoying an equal quality of life. More programs should be freely available for women to increase their capacity and skills in areas such as language, education and the cultural environment they find themselves in. See more
