25.01.2022 PART 2 - Recently in QLD was Seniors Week and this year STG Shining Lights Theatre Workshop run online with two free Zoom sessions. We were fortunate enough to have our coordinator Nerida record part of these sessions. The first session was a series of short performances by our members, a character reading of monologues rather than full performances.... This video is of Lyn Kesby reading one of Helens monologues from Matthew Freemans That Which Isnt. In this scene Helen is talking about her mothers collection of cups and glasses which she needs to dispose of now that her mother is being moved into a nursing home. We hope you enjoy.

24.01.2022 So our silver lining has started. Last Monday we met with representatives of Brisbane City Council and the Contractor they have engaged to undertake the improvements to our theatre we outlined at the recent AGM. The construction of the new lift and toilets has commenced and will be completed before we able to recommence our activities. Being able to provide the contractor with uninterrupted access to the site will remove any risk or inconvenience to our members and audiences... and should see the work completed sooner than expected. The Management Committee wants to express its thanks to the Brisbane City Council, Accessibility and Inclusion Unit and the City Projects Office for providing the support (and the funding!!) to enable this work to happen. And a huge thank you to Cr Kim Marx for all your support.

12.01.2022 This is the third video from our Qld Seniors Week session is Act 4 Scene 1 from Macbeth. Once again, this is not a performance level piece, but a training exercise. Tackling Shakespeare was quite a learning curve for our Shining Lights members, but they persevered with the challenges of the language and the exigencies of Zoom. They had great fun with the scene, creating costumes and props and they made good use of the Zoom background.
