21.01.2022 In most cases, a lounge with lots of family use including pets (never recommended!) will suffer general wear and tear as the years pass. The more you care for your leather the slower this breakdown will occur. This lounge was 5 years old and heavily used with no maintenance. Whilst it will never look brand new, it will look much better and extend the years of use. 18.01.2022 Do not use domestic household wipes, alcohol wipes, spray and wipe, pine-o-cleen etc on your leather to sanitise it. You will destroy the top coat over time and ruin the lounge. Only use high quality leather care kits for regular maintenance and cleaning and have the professionals take care of it with a deep clean and protection every 6-12 months. 17.01.2022 Went to apply protection cream to a brand new lounge. Upon arrival I asked if he just wiped the lounge down as you can see streaks. He informed me yes a few days ago. I asked if he used cheap leather wipes. Sure enough he had. I’ve always mentioned to people that cheap wipes have additives that create a film on the leather. It’s traps soiling and makes it sticky and shiny over time which contributes to top coat breakdown. This is a prime example what happens just after one wi...pe let alone years of using them. It was cleaned up and then a high quality protection cream was applied. Breathable and invisible and even safe for aniline leather.
