25.01.2022 Ahead of Sunny Side Presents: My Cherie & Isaac Thomas this afternoon, we had a chat with Isaac Thomas about what makes him tick as a musician. When I listen to music that connects with me, it gives me a sense of solidarity in a way that is almost impossible to replicate, he explains. Im always working towards creating that feeling in other people. Isaac Thomas & His Best Friends are constantly rehearsing, recording and fine tuning each song to create a healthy blend bet...ween musicianship and good song writing. With new single, What Do I Say already on the horizon, were excited to hear that the band is getting back into the studio again later this month. But what about the live side of things that the band is gearing up for today? Im addicted to that feeling you get when youre playing live, Isaac says. Youre looking at your bandmate, theyre looking at you, youre looking at the people in the audience and everybody is connecting on the same frequency. I think its very healing in a special kind of way. Heartwarming stuff - for those without tickets, you can experience this connection (although a little differently) via our live stream tonight. Tune in for some Sunday magic, kicking off with My Chrie from 7pm

25.01.2022 In celebration of Wear it Purple Day for gender diverse and LGBTQIA+ young people, were proud to present this third and final release in our series with Electric Fields Music! One of the first songs the duo wrote together, Shade Away encourages us to stand proud and brush past negative energy - to throw the shade away. Wear It Purple shares the same message: You have the right to be proud of who you are. Who you love and how you define yourself does not change that. Th...e not-for-profit strives to raise awareness and create a world that is safe for all young people. If youd like to learn more about how you can support their incredible work, head to their website: https://www.wearitpurple.org/ Make sure you visit our YouTube to catch the full Electric Fields series in collaboration with Repeater, captured live at Ukaria Cultural Centre. And in the meantime, let those rainbow flags fly

25.01.2022 We’re over the moon to announce that we’re up for a SAM Award for Best Innovation! It’s fun reflecting on the fact that our first crew photo was taken with us standing 1.5m apart, and here we are a couple of weeks ago, huddled cozily and COVID-free in a booth at Cry Baby celebrating our latest project. BIG thank you to everyone who has supported us on this wild ride, and in the meantime, we’re looking forward to celebrating Adelaide’s talented, resilient and all-round bloody ...brilliant music community at the awards next month. We love you Cute AF photo by Sam Dougherty South Australian Music Awards

23.01.2022 With Sunny Side Presents: My Cherie & Isaac Thomas coming up this Sunday, we had an inspiring chat with ethereal pop powerhouse My Chrie about her creative process. She starts with three simple but powerful words - create, make, play which characterise her holistic approach to music. Drawing on her experience growing up in South Africa, she uses her creative practice to share her spiritual connection to nature with a untamed energy. I find my inspiration through doing,..." she explains. "There will always be resistance or times of lacking in motivation, but when we go beyond what we feel in the moment and rather what we know were destined for, the magic flows. My Cheries relentless attitude towards creativity is what has driven her to keep making music throughout COVID. Having spent the last few months focused on songwriting and production, she has many new songs in the works that deal with change, self-discovery and spiritual awakening. We dont always feel like being creative, Cherie admits. But a painting cant be painted unless the brush is picked up and starts stroking the canvas. I allow myself the opportunity to be inspired when I push past inner resistance and simply do. While her new tunes arent out in the universe yet, you can check out My Cheries debut 6-track Summer EP ahead of this Sundays gig. There are only a handful of tickets left, so get in quick to catch this super intimate show!

18.01.2022 Beloved desert psych outfit Kitchen Witch have just dropped their new album Earth and Ether, ahead of their launch with us tonight! We caught up with frontwoman Georgie to find out more about this blistering release, which she describes as stoner rock for the dancefloor/beanbag. Earth and Ether is our first real life full length album, and musically, I reckon its our best work so far, she smiles proudly. I cant help but think how the lyrics were inspired by nature, and... how much it was an unintentional theme throughout. 17.01.2022 Big love and thanks to Music SA for putting together this great guide to keeping audiences, artists and venues safe We each have a super important role to play, so give this a gander to see what you can do to keep our live music industry thriving!

17.01.2022 Remember that time South Australia locked down and we live-streamed an audience-less gig with Aidan J Jones? Just one very talented musician and a crew of four nervous producers quietly wondering if this thing would actually work. Here’s our favourite track from that very first set, to keep you company on your first night of lockdown. If you’re missing live music, don’t forget you can watch back all 30+ of our sets from this year via our Facebook or YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/sunnysideuploads As this strangeness unfolds in South Australia (again), we’ll do our best to keep y’all entertained where possible. Stay home and be safe!

16.01.2022 Coming this week! Were so proud to present this series with SA icons Electric Fields Music, in collaboration with Repeater. Stay tuned for our first release, premiering via YouTube on Monday. Credit: Michael Hartwich

16.01.2022 Melodic garage punk powerhouse Sawcy Paws will be tearing up the stage for us this Sunday, and we cant wait for things to get a lil noisy! Vocalist Dan Adey describes the bands sound as pure and simple, with no whistles and just the occasional bell (and if youre lucky, a dad joke). Sawcy Paws have been bringing their energetic show to stages, sheds and backyards around Adelaide since early 2018, and were super excited to be hosting the launch of their debut EP Norfol...k Pines, which is available on Bandcamp: https://sawcypaws.bandcamp.com/releases It was recorded here in Adelaide with Adrian Woithe, Dan explains. And the artwork is by amazing tattooist and general legend Emma Mere. And what inspires the energetic three piece, you might ask? Were driven by the simplicity and energy of punk rock. Sharing a beer and dad jokes. Feminism, football, our mates, and the Adelaide music scene in general. Amen to that, legends. You can catch Sunny Side Uploads presents: Sawcy Paws live at The Jade this Sunday, for an intimate show in the venues stunning band room. Homebound? Its all good! You can live stream the set via our Facebook or YouTube and not miss a moment of the action.

13.01.2022 Alt-pop four piece Lightsonlover. are gonna be slingin some moody tunes this Sunday at Sunny Side HQ! We had a chat this week with the bands vocalist and guitarist, Ryan, about what get the sad pop juices flowing. Were just a bunch of dudes who are passionate about writing, producing and playing music, Ryan explains frankly. Were inspired by the whole music process from start to finish. Which is lucky for our listening pleasure, seeing as theyve just dropped their mo...st recent single, Home, and apparently have three fresh new tracks on the way sooner rather than later. 09.01.2022 Sunny Side Uploads Presents: Neon Tetra

09.01.2022 Dilettantes are breaking the ice on their COVID down-time for Sunny Side Uploads presents: Dilettantes next Sunday, and we CANT WAIT. While you get busy ordering your tickets, we thought wed share some gems from our chat with the gang earlier this week. Weve never really known how to describe ourselves, or ever really wanted to, guitarist and vocalist Rick explains. We sound how we sound because we dont really know any other way to do it. More loud is more good, ya dig...? We dig! If youve seen Dillies live before, you know youll get more loud in abundance, channelled through a sound thats reminiscent of Hot Water Music, Title Fight and The Menzingers. As far as musical influence goes, weve all got pretty diverse tastes. But honestly, true inspiration comes from seeing our peers doing wild shit. You know that feeling at a show when a big fuzz part kicks in? The bass, drums and guitar melt into one huge booming entity. You get a little shiver. You just cant help but say to yourself: Fuck me thats huge. Howd they do that?. Thats fuel for the goddamn fire. We asked if they had any news to share with our audience, and weve been assured that there are some new tunes in the works. The final word: Keep them peepers peeping. You heard it here first!

08.01.2022 Whos joining us for Sunny Side Uploads presents: Neon Tetra (Single Launch) this Sunday?! Adelaides synthy, groove-laden Neon Tetra have been playing all over Australia for a few years now, and are currently getting ready to release their second EP. Their new single Heartbeat is coming out tomorrow, and the band are super excited to share it with everyone! With their Sunny Side gig coming up this weekend, we had a chat with bassist Liam about the bands unique creative i...nspo. We draw pretty wide inspiration, ranging from 80s or 90s pop to psycho-disco and prog, but really concise song writing and tight grooves are what we enjoy the most, he says. Where we all come together is a love for a strong and impactful sense of rhythm. And if youre joining us for the show this weekend? Raucous and intense live energy is what motivates us in terms of performance, Liam explains. We try to bring that ourselves when we play. Keep your eyes out on all major streaming services for their new single Heartbeat, which drops tomorrow. And dont forget to grab your ticket for the intimate, candlelit single launch this Sunday at The Jade! Jack Fenby

05.01.2022 We’re ending our 2020 season with a bang this Friday night, featuring desert-jangle maestros, Los Palms! If you’ve seen them before, you’ll know you’re in for a treat (and if you haven’t, we’re telling you now - check out their ripper tune Six Broke Teens below). We had a chat with the gang this week about what inspires their unique, shimmering sound: We just wanted to create a vibe an experience based around desert, surf, pop, Chilean coke and pool parties in the 60s, fr...ontman Ant explains. We’re often told that our music has a ‘Tarantino vibe’, so now when I’m asked what style of music we play, I say: ‘Any of you fucking pricks move, I'll execute every motherfuckin' last one of ya!’ People seem to be creating their own stories around our songs, and Tino seems to be directing it. So thank you Mr Tarantino. We’re also excited to share that the five-piece are currently working on a full-length album, with plans to tour (when that's a thing again). And who knows, Ant adds. We might even shake some songs with our friends in the States. Maybe Tarantino wants to put a party on for us or something? Who knows we just wanna play music, and invite you all to join us! And on that note, there are still a handful of tickets left to this very limited capacity gig. Grab yours here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/130207603447
