06.01.2022 A timely warning especially with Christmas approaching. Do NOT buy any of these nasty, very dangerous rawhide treats for your pups and adult dogs. There are plenty of natural, tasty, safe chew products on the market such as Greenies, thick deer or goat antlers, Pedigree Dentastik or veggie pig ears we only give our family. We speak from past experience when I stupidly bought a large rawhide bone from a vet clinic of all places (crazy I know) years ago as a treat for our 50k...g+ Dogue De Bordeaux and it nearly choked him to death. It would have if we hadn’t have been at home and saw him struggling to breathe..The deadly things unravel once chewed and moistened and when we pulled it out from his throat the piece was as long as my forearm! I even found another piece just as long the next day in the garden. So I’m glad we can warn those who aren’t sure about chew treat choices. Always keep a close eye on the state of chew products regardless. Once they’ve been gnawed down, the antlers in particular, can also become dangerous if they look like your dog can attempt to swallow them. Throw any product away if in any doubt. Puppies especially, need to be monitored closely when introducing dental, chew or safe toy products. Teach them good habits by removing the treat or toy if they are possessive of it, they run away to hide from view to chew or try to bury it, being gluttonous while chewing, ripping up and shredding toys are also not habits you want them to learn.
