25.01.2022 COVID-19 has been tough on everyone and it seems we are in for a slow drive out of the tunnel! Many of our community events have not been able to proceed this year, which has seen a significant downturn in donations. Our organisation relies entirely on donations to provide the services to help those diagnosed with cancer. If you wish to help us out please see below for our bank details. All donations greater than $2 are tax deductible. We will provide you with a receipt for t...ax purposes. You will need to let us know your address for posting the receipt, via email - [email protected] Bank Details: Sunraysia Cancer Resources General Account BSB 633000 A/C 143867638 Our sincere thanks go to all who continue to support Sunraysia Cancer Resources Diana Newman Business Manager See more

22.01.2022 In response to feedback from our community we have developed some support packs for new and existing clients/carers. We have a financial information pack to help people to be aware of their options when they have a cancer diagnosis, and how to access assistance. We also have emotional support packs, designed to provide information to clients and carers who are struggling with a cancer diagnosis, about what options are available to help them. These packs will be available in m...id-October, because we are waiting for supplies from Cancer Council Victoria. Our third support pack is designed for those who are suffering grief and loss. This pack has information to help people understand why they feel the way they do and where to get help. This will also be available from mid October. If you would like a pack please call 50258866. Financial packs are available immediately, we can take your name and let you know as soon as the others are ready. Diana Newman Business Manager See more

21.01.2022 Today marks 6 months since we closed our door and stopped face to face contact. Who knew it would be that long?! We have still been able to provide services to clients via phone and email which has been working well. I will let everyone know when we open our doors again, as soon as we gauge the success of Melbourne's easing of restrictions. Because many of our clients are travelling to Melbourne for treatment we will proceed cautiously. Diana Newman Business Manager

12.01.2022 Just an update from us here at Sunraysia Cancer Resources for those of you who are flying to Melbourne for treatment, consultations, review. From 1st June masks will be mandatory for passengers on all REX flights. If you don't have a mask when you check in, they are available for purchase for $2 each. Passengers requiring exemption from mask wearing must have written documentation from their treating health professional. There will also be mandatory body temperature testing. Please contact us at SCR if you have any questions about this. 5025 8866

11.01.2022 It has been a while since I have updated people in relation to our services. We are still assisting clients to get to their appointments in major centres, so if you need our help please contact us on 5025 8866. We're not doing face to face, but we are still providing services over the phone or via email. This is working well, and for those who don't have access to phone or electronic communication we always provide alternatives. Unfortunately being able to get flights for peo...ple is difficult during the hard lockdowns in place for the last three weeks. REX and Qantas are only flying on Mondays and Fridays. But we are always able to offer other options for clients and can assist them with those options. We have twice attempted to re-open our shop front, but each time the reality of COVID-19 has got in the way, so I am not making any predictions as to when that will happen until things are much clearer. I encourage you to contact us if you have been diagnosed with cancer. We can provide you with a variety of services despite our friend COVID-19. It is a tough time to have cancer, so don't hesitate to seek out our support. Diana Newman Business Manager See more

A big thank you to those members for stepping up and volunteering to participate in the organisation. We will soon update our Website with new information on our Committee.

10.01.2022 Whilst our doors remain closed, we are still providing services, so don't hesitate to get in touch. We are hoping that the number of flights by REX and Qantas will be increased in the coming weeks and clients can return to flying to their appointments, without having to stay for extended periods in Melbourne. I will keep you posted. Diana Newman Business Manager

06.01.2022 I want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to Regional Express and Qantas. In the initial shutdown, and then the second shutdown, many flights were cancelled by the airlines. We had many flights that we had booked and paid for that were affected and the airlines placed all these flights on hold. We were able to use some of those flights, subsequently but many were not able to be used. Regional Express refunded all those flights that had been cancelled, and Qantas has... issued vouchers for all the flights they cancelled, that can be used for any client (previously you could only use flights on hold for the same person). Airlines have done it tough too, so their consideration of our situation is worthy of a big thank you. At times we had up to $13,000 worth of flights on hold, so the actions of the airlines make a huge difference to our organisation. See more
