24.01.2022 ENTRY UPDATE: With just under a month until entries close for the 2020 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari, we're already just over half our capacity field. And with at least 15 additional competitors indicating they're entering, that leaves only 25 or so places until we're full! It's great to welcome so many new competitors to the event this year, and as we continue to finalise the course, it's going to be an absolute cracker! See below for entries as of June 25 (in no particular... order): MOTO: JASON STEWART DYLAN DE SZABO LEIGH MADEN JASON MCDONALD MAX BOWATER BILLY FISHWICK AARON TRIST ALLAN SAUNDERS MICHAEL THUMM TRENT COSSILL MICK PAGE DES HOGAN GEORGE MULLER CONRAD FAIRHEAD JASON MITCHELL SHANNON DIXON TONY RUTTER ROD HINTON UWE VON CZAPIEWSKI VICTOR BONNACI JON FARMER JAY GERRARD MATT GILLESPIE DANIEL FIGUEINEDO ALISTAIR NICOLL MATTHEW LEE SHANE SCHUTZ DANIEL TASCI AUTO: GLENN OWEN DEAN MILLER DARREN WEBSTER TREVOR HANKS PAUL BORG JASON NOONAN PETER SWEENEY JASON O’BRIEN GRAHAM COLBRAN GLENN BRINKMAN DAVID MENDHAM ETHAN PICKSTOCK MICHAEL COATES JORN GRANGER ANDREW TRAVIS JASON MARKS (If your name isn't here and you think it should be, please contact us ASAP) We'd really love a capacity field this year, to lift the spirits of everyone, and bring a smile (and some much needed funds!) to the local communities. So if you're still deliberating, just do it! The course is totally suitable for conventional type rally cars, so if you're after the ultimate Australian Motorsport Adventure, look no further. Some of our single stages are longer than an entire ARC! The 2020 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari will be the best yet by far, I promise you'll be kicking yourself if you miss out. Get those entries in, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, Troy Bennett Event Director

24.01.2022 Our Course Check commenced today, and so far, so very good! We opted to stop here for lunch, just as competitors will on the first day of the event. Just a reminder to get your entries in if you haven’t already, we’ve still got places available, and we need a full field!

23.01.2022 An update from our Event Director on plans for this year’s Local Legends Sunraysia Safari. He’s aged about 7 years in the past 3 days!!

23.01.2022 To borrow a marketing phrase: From where you’d rather be........!!

22.01.2022 THE SUN HAS OFFICIALLY SET ON THE 2020 LOCAL LEGENDS SUNRAYSIA SAFARI...... From the Event Director: Hi Everyone,...Continue reading

19.01.2022 It’s a cold and rainy day here today, a great opportunity to get online and order some of these!!

16.01.2022 It’s a full house here at the moment, with more still to come! These should all be finished in the near future, subject to parts arriving in the post that is.....! We can’t wait until we can get back out and get working on the 2021 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari!

15.01.2022 Enough of these COVID lockdowns, time to get on with it! We're already well underway with planning for the 2021 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari, and our new logo reflects the level of optimism we all have, with a hint of green on the ground on many of our properties! We've been getting some decent rains up here over the past few weeks, so we're hopeful that the Wentworth Shire will be at its absolute best come September 8 next year. We'll be back out working with our property ...owners in a few weeks (once harvesting is out of the way!) confirming details for next year's course. We've been using the recent time to refurbish and prepare our Course Survey Vehicles, and special thanks to our long time supporters Monaghan Logistics, for arranging to get our "main" Triton back from Melbourne for us. I dropped it into my mechanics in May for a routine service, and with the lockdown and border closures, I can't get home yet to pick it up myself! We're really excited about the 2021 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari, and we'll keep you updated as we progress. We already have nearly half our maximum entry number paid up and raring to go, and that's before we even get started! If you're not one of those entries, make sure you keep an eye out for when entries reopen, or you may miss out.

15.01.2022 When you’re out working on your own in the bush on a Sunday afternoon, and you’ve just finished putting together a 192km competitive stage, what better way to celebrate than with some delicious Local Legends Biltong!!

14.01.2022 A message from the Event Director, on what should be Leg One of the 2020 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari. A somewhat sad day, but many better ones to come! (And yes, the rumours about him trying out two wheels are confirmed!!)

13.01.2022 Legends #13 - Bike Legends in the Dust Anyone who handled the dust of the thrid day two years ago was a legend just to get through it! Check out the action from the air and keep counting down the weeks to the start of the 2020 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari Rally.

12.01.2022 The generosity and enthusiasm of our land owners never ceases to amaze me. We’re out checking what will be the final stage of this year’s Local Legends Sunraysia Safari, the 18.29km Kelso Super Special Stage (we’re aware that an 18km stage is a normal stage length for most rallies, and not exactly a Super Special Stage distance, but hey, that’s how we roll out here!!). Not content to simply have it as good as it was last year, the owners have seen fit to include a Water Splash to really mix things up!! How deep it is depends on how much more rain we get......!

11.01.2022 Our Event Director continues to work into the night, he can’t show you what he’s working on, but it’s 106.9kms long!

09.01.2022 Local Legends #14 - Auto Dust Take a look at these legends from the 2018 Safari! From the chopper you get a taste of what this particluar day had in store for auto competitors. It's just one aspect of the Sunraysia Safari that makes it the most challenging and rewarding cross country rally around.

08.01.2022 The COVID lockdown might have caused us to cancel this year’s Local Legends Sunraysia Safari, but it hasn’t stopped us from working! We’ve used the time to attack our lengthy to do list, which included significant upgrades and maintenance tasks on our entire Course Survey Fleet. This one is particularly special, as it’s a vehicle very close to the heart of our Event Director, and this complete renovation has been several years in the waiting! All of our available time and... budget has been diverted to running the Local Legends Sunraysia Safari for the last few years, so it’s the one bright light in this COVID saga that we’re able to finally get it done. Of course it needs to be ready ASAP, as we’re intending getting back to work out in the bush once the harvest season is over in a few weeks! Ironically, all of the dirt roads in Wentworth are closed at present due to the recent rain, so even if we were able to move the date of this year’s rally to the proposed October 15-18 time slot, we wouldn’t have been able to set up the course now anyway!! I think it’s safe to say it just wasn’t going to happen in 2020! Good luck to all of our property owners that are about to begin what will hopefully be a bumper harvest! We look forward to seeing you out and about in a few weeks, with our fully rejuvenated fleet ready to find more roads that don’t really exist!!

07.01.2022 Social Distancing was not a problem today! Out finalising a brand new section for this year, the last to complete before the course check begins next week.

06.01.2022 Entries are still flowing in for the 2020 Local Legends Sunraysia Safari, and with still just under 2 months until entries close, we’re already about half full! This sensational Perana of Jorn Granger is the latest entry, and we’re really looking forward to seeing it out on the stages! Built for long distance marathon rallies, the Perana will be a perfect way to take in the stunning scenery in the beautiful Wentworth region. The event is suitable for conventional rally cars, and we’ve got several signed up and raring to go!

04.01.2022 Everything seems to be conspiring against me at the moment! Great to see the rain, but we aren’t going to risk cutting up the track. Plan B.......!

04.01.2022 In these uncertain times who else can you turn to?? A quick entry update: We're well over 50 entries now, and they're still coming in at a steady rate! With some extra competitors that have already confirmed they're coming, we're probably only looking at around 30 more places (in total) before we're full. There's a lot of regular names still missing from the Entry list, you wouldn't want to leave it too much longer......!!
