25.01.2022 Good results for our juniors today as they took the wins in both Under 17s and Under 15s representative matches. Under 17s SCA 214 (C.Kiel 62, B.Anderson 35) def SHDCA 138 (C.Aldridge 3/20, J.Baird 3/34)... Under 15s SCA 153 (R.Jobson 70, M.Maloney 44) def SHDCA 66 (R.Jobson 2/5, D.Furze 2/10, S.Prajapat 2/10) Both teams head to Quandong Park tomorrow to take on Central Region. Games start at 10.30am.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Mildura Settlers Cricket Club and Merbein South Cricket Club speedsters Seamus Keogh and Campbell Griffiths who have been announced as part of the Victorian Under-19 Emerging Players Squad. Members of the Under-19 Male squad are in contention to represent Victoria at the Under 19 National Championships, with planning being formulated to stage the tournament in Adelaide in April.

20.01.2022 VALE BOB WALDER SCA and Merbein South Cricket Club Life Member, Robert (Bob) Walder has passed away. "Bob" recorded 2149 runs and 179 wickets in 117 games for the Merbein South Cricket Club plus many more for the Merbein Cricket Club beforehand. A solid opening bat together with his mediums and off spin bowling, Bob was one of the best players in the district in his day and was awarded Life Membership of the SCA this year. Bob was one half of a set of twins, with brother Jim..., among the 12 children of George Godfrey Walder and Noreen Noonan. Bob was a stalwart of the Merbein community and represented the district at numerous Melbourne Country Weeks as well as playing for the Mallee against the Victorian Sheffield Shield team in 1963/64 and the touring West Indians in 1967/68. Bob made the Merbein cricket team of the decade for the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He was also part of premiership sides at First XI level in 1961/62 and 1962/63 as well as a Second XI premiership in 1958/59. Bob and his family's contribution to cricket in Merbein is noted with the Merbein South Cricket Club's honour board in their Chaffey Park clubrooms being named in the Walder family's honour. The Sunraysia Cricket Association offers its condolences to the Walder family.

20.01.2022 The Sunraysia CA have announced a 14 player squad to play two representative matches in the Victorian Country Cricket League. This is the first time that the region has participated in the competition that will compete against Western Waves (Dec 6) and Northern Rivers (Jan 31). The VCCL competition allows 2 overage players to participate in this competition and the SCA is hopeful that this will lead to open age representative matches for our women's competition in future seas...ons. The squad is: Caitlin Finch, Gemma Higgins, Ella Higgins (Mildura East), Kaitlin Kemp (Coomealla Wentworth), Tara Martin (Mildura West), Lara Telfer, Sarah Telfer, Shania McKinnon (Mildura Settlers), Keira Young, Gypsy Gange, Claire Temby, Shanika Kirby-Wilson, Rani Spence-Weightman (Nichols Point), Aimee Pearce (South West). The squad will train at the Mildura West nets this Sunday at 2pm.

12.01.2022 With official start dates still to be decided around Australia, pre-season renovations are being completed on wicket blocks a lot earlier than normal. This is a... great opportunity to get stuck in now and have a full square coverage whatever the best case scenario is in your league. Queensland Premier Cricket and NSW Premier Cricket are expected to start on time along with the WA Premier Cricket. Key items to address before season starts; - Machinery and equipment service and stocktake - Square up and peg/mark out wicket block - Stock take of items needed for use through the season aka cover pegs, hessians, turf paint and so on - Irrigation audit - Touch base with all the volunteers and stakeholders you will be in contact through the season. - Liaise with your club/employer a COVID action plan should you need to isolate at any stage. - Reach out sooner than later to get any of the above done/have a plan for season start. What else would you recommend?

03.01.2022 LET THERE BE LIGHTS! It's been a busy week of milestones down at the Mildura South Regional Sporting Precinct. Hot off the heels of a $10 million funding b...oost courtesy of the Victoria Government, this week has also seen the erection of competition-standard lighting towers around the main oval, and the installation of a cricket turf square. Both works have been carried by local contractors Oasis Unmatched, Mildura Cranes and Access and BRW Elect respectively. The light towers will enable top end competition, including national tournaments, to be played at the MSRSP across numerous sports. The lighting and turf wicket has been made possible thanks to joint funding partnership between Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia, Sport Recreation Victoria and Council. Cricket Australia have contributed $275,000 to the initiative, while the Victorian Government have contributed $250,000 through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
