20.01.2022 New CEO appointed for SCRC

19.01.2022 Urgent action is required. Register complaints about aircraft noise. Track planes with Flightradar 24. Details below. Under the Sunshine Coast Airport (SCA) Fly Neighbourly Policy agreement with the community (and the ASA, Air Services Australia’s Noise Abatement Procedure) the SCA had previously closed the airport from 10pm to 7am for aircraft over 5700 kg, unless special permission was granted by the Airport. These standards were recently changed by SCA (and ASA) without a...ny consultation with the community to reduce the closure from 11pm to 5.30 am. WE assume this was done to accommodate the 'fly in, fly out' (FIFO) charter flights during periods of daylight saving. However, a regular Alliance FIFO flight on Monday evening is now scheduled to depart at 11.15pm, a clear and intentional departure from the Noise Abatement Procedure and the Fly Neighbourly Policy. We now understand that the SCA have agreed to allow an Alliance flight from Canberra to arrive at 1am on Sunday morning. We assume this is returning the Melbourne Storm rugby league team from the Saturday night game in Canberra. This is clearly outside the Noise Abatement Procedure and Fly Neighbourly Policy and a blatant abuse of the liveability of our community. Mudjimba Residents Association Inc urge all residents to get involved now, details below. Without your support this sort of behaviour will become standard practice. Register complaints about aircraft noise (EVERY TIME!) Residents affected by aircraft noise can lodge a complaint in several ways. You can lodge a non-specific or a specific complaint about a particular aircraft noise event or flight. LODGE YOUR COMPLAINT TO BOTH Airservices (ASA) and SC Airport (SCA), AND email a copy to Mudjimba Residents Association Inc, (MRA). AIRSERVICES AUSTRALIA (ASA) Using their online form I would be useful to take a screenshot (using the "Print Screen" key on the your keyboard) of your ASA complaint form prior to submitting your complaint, and email it to: [email protected] It will be useful for future lobbying activities to have a record of all noise complaints lodged by affected residents and responses received. SUNSHINE COAST AIRPORT (SCA) Email your complaint directly to the airport at [email protected] FLIGHT RADAR 24 app details Flightradar24 is a free app which can be downloaded onto your mobile phone. It provides real time information about aircraft in flight and enables you to locate an aircraft on a map (over your suburb for example) and view details such as the type of aircraft (passenger jet, helicopter or other), the current altitude of the aircraft and the name of the airline or owner operator. The map will also show the flight path route, so you can check whether the noise event is as a result of an arrival or departure into/out of Sunshine Coast Airport or an en route aircraft to/from Brisbane.

08.01.2022 Many questions about the new runway are being asked. The following were from a Mudjimba resident and we have responded Hopefully you will find these informative. Q. Why has the original runway closed, given this is an 'airport expansion' project? A. The 2014 EIS stated that the 1836 runway ( North/South) would be retained for light aircraft and would attract 10% of aircraft movements at the airport. Most regional airports in Australia use a cross runway to provide operationa...Continue reading
