24.01.2022 THANK YOU! Heres an update on the amazing donations youve made so far! Were so moved by all of you. Were not out of the woods yet, but youre helping us get there Donations can still be made here: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia

23.01.2022 For a long time now we have not been able to afford to give a birthday cake every month for kids who had a birthday that month. Now, thanks to your generosity we have been able to go back to this practice which makes the kids very happy. One cake is not enough for all of us but the kids happily share it all around. Again, without you this would not be happening.

23.01.2022 Derald Reynolds is a renowned Hong Kong DJ who recently came to visit our Kandal centre to show the kids how to be a DJ, just like he did in Siem Reap some time ago. It was certainly a VERY busy and noisy lesson, but all the kids had an absolute blast! Thank you so much, Derald!

23.01.2022 Comfort, love and friendship! This photo says it all! Our Sunrise children are always surrounded by their four legged brothers and sisters. It is a fact, animals help children recover more quickly from ill health, trauma and mental health issues. Especially during current times, the value of pet therapy cannot be ignored.... Snooky and Sunny know they are in good hands and loved. In return they give back their love and protection to our children. They are all part of our wonderful Sunrise Family!

23.01.2022 Triplets! Our Sunrise family is thrilled to announce Sunrise Graduate Neth Raksmey and his wife, have just been blessed with not one, but three wonderful little boys! One very proud Mother and Father were sharing their joy today with an equally excited Medical Team!... We wish Raksmey and his special family, health, happiness and a wonderful future together!

23.01.2022 "We do not have 'disabled' kids at Sunrise, only 'special' kids!" Geraldine Cox AM

22.01.2022 Child sponsorship changes their life and yours. Your support gives them food, safety, clothing, access to education and, most importantly, a home. To sponsor a child, go here: sunrisecambodia.org.au/sponsor/

22.01.2022 While Australians brace for Coronavirus uncertainty, the same fears grow in Cambodia. The effects on the poor and disadvantaged could be devastating.

22.01.2022 Schools are still closed in Cambodia due to the covid19 pandemic, and so is the Sunrise Learning Centre. We miss the noise and laughter of the students from our nearby communities. Especially the toddlers who attend our preschool.

20.01.2022 We have been so overwhelmed by the response to Geraldines letter and our story on A Current Affair. Okun (thank you), everyone! We are not out of the woods yet but every donation that comes in is such a blessing. If you can, please help. If you cant, share and send this message to your friends. Donations can still be made at www.sunrisecambodia.org.au or go directly to the donation page here: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia

20.01.2022 International Womens Day is this Sunday, March 8, and were proud to support it. Weve had the incredible privilege of seeing so many amazing girls grow up and change the world, and your support helps a new generation of women achieve their dreams Donate today to change their tomorrow: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia #EachforEqual #IWD2020

19.01.2022 Geraldine has always wanted to give all the children a record of their childhood, especially the older ones who have left and married. A friend from Las Vegas, Rob Cascella, came and spent hours cataloging almost a hundred DVDs, photos and television coverage and put them into a Cloud. We can now give the kids a link to connect them with their lives at Sunrise.... They are so looking forward to being able to see this! Thanks so much Rob! You have made a very special contribution.

19.01.2022 Some good news in amongst the pandemic! It didnt deter Sarun, Sunrises Education Manager, from marrying his beautiful bride Sok Mean recently. Whilst the Covid crisis limited the wedding guests that could attend, that didnt deter the happy couple to continue with the important big day. Congratulations to Sarun and Sok Mean! Despite the current disruptions, we at Sunrise wish you all the best. Lets hope that, after the pandemic passes, youll both be able to celebrate some more. It was such a joy for us and the children to have this occur during these stressful times.

16.01.2022 "Here are three very poor families in the community near us who were deeply affected by COVID-19 and were in urgent need of assistance. Sunrise came to their aid and the food supplies we gave were very much appreciated." ~ Geraldine Cox AM

16.01.2022 Despite no longer having a physical location in Siem Reap we continue to support children in the District. Recently our former General Manager Dy Vorn, organised a wonderful reunion between former Siem Reap beneficiaries and Mum Geraldine. Thank you so much Dy! A special dinner and cake was enjoyed by all and the students were presented with new School and College supplies.... A Sunrise graduate is part of our family for life and we are so proud of all they have achieved!

16.01.2022 Further to our recent letter about the difficulties were facing, our Founder and Country Director, Geraldine Cox AM, will be on A Current Affair tonight talking about the current situation and our serious need for support. 16.01.2022 Australia, THANK YOU! Your outpouring of support has been nothing short of incredible! Weve now passed over $600,000 raised since we let you know of the the troubles we faced. We thank you, I thank you and the children thank you! If youve helped us achieve this, by donating or sharing our story, please comment below. You all deserve recognition for an incredible grassroots effort! THANK YOU Donations are still coming in and can be made here: http://bit.ly/SunriseDream

15.01.2022 A wonderful photo of the young children going to nursery school.

15.01.2022 A birthday message from Geraldine... To donate please visit: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia

14.01.2022 Betty Crocker is alive and well in Sunrise! Geraldine teaches her beautiful teenage girls how to cook special chocolate cakes for everyone. Life skills begin at home and next month it will be the boy's turn to cook up a storm. Master Chef look out!

14.01.2022 Sunrise Stories: Soknoeun "On behalf of all the kids here in Sunrise ... I would like to say thank you so much for your kindness and your support. Its very meaningful for us all to be here, to be able to receive education, to recieve the support and love and this could not happen without the support from all of you." Soknoeun talks about what its like coming back to Sunrise and what its meant for her, her life and her career. To support the future generations she mentions, donate here: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia

14.01.2022 A wonderful pic of some of the children having a meal together. The health and happiness of the children is very important to us and without the support of our donors, we wouldnt be able to do what we do. Thank you

13.01.2022 Geraldine had her monthly get together with the graduated boys from Sunrise. The former Sunrise kids have an unbreakable bond with 'Big Mum' and Sunrise. They all went to the recently opened restaurant of Monitha and Oeun our former music and dance teachers, who retired from teaching. It was wonderful to renew this relationship with them and so special for all!

13.01.2022 Looks like Snooky won't make it to midnight to welcome in the New Year! 2020 has been a challenge for us all, however at Sunrise we remain full of positive energy and looking to the future. In 2021 we will continue our wonderful work for Cambodia's disadvantaged children. You, our valued friends and sponsors, are a key part of our vision and we are truly humbled by your kindness and generosity.... I want to take this opportunity to wish you all good health, happiness and peace for 2021! Sending our Love, Geraldine Cox AM

13.01.2022 The Australian Ambassador Pablo Kang and his wife, Rebecca, were instrumental in recently reuniting Geraldine with her old friend, Mr. Muy, from her time working at the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh during the seventies. Mr. Muy was a driver for the Embassy. He survived 5 years of Pol Pot and is the most amazing 98-year-old person she has ever met. Thank you Pablo and Rebecca for making this happen.... He is such a revered personality among all Embassy staff, they have changed the name of the Embassy Social Club from 'Akubra Club' to 'Mr. Muýs Club' He promises to make it to 100!

13.01.2022 When a child leaves Sunrise, re-integrates into the community and goes back to their family we do our best to help their family with basic needs and food. It is important to us that they have support to keep striving forward in life.

13.01.2022 Sadly our education centre has been closed due to Covid 19, but it presented a golden opportunity to give our school a fresh coat of paint, and brighten things up for our students eventual return! We sought numerous quotations for the work and finally settled on one company who have done a wonderful job and gone the extra mile for our children. Quality work and quality paint which will last for many years to come. After eighteen years, many of our buildings required electrica...l, plumbing and surface repairs. The preparation work was key before the new paint went on. Hence the wonderful result! Once completed our kids all rolled up their sleeves to remove desks, chairs and other items from the classrooms and give them all a good clean. 9 months of dust vanished in one team effort! So our Education Centre is now looking spick and span! Thank you to all our sponsors for helping us improve our facilities at Sunrise. We could not do this without your kindness.

12.01.2022 AN URGENT MESSAGE From Geraldine Cox AM and Sunrise Cambodia You may have received the following letter via post or email recently about our current situation. These are extremely challenging times and we ask everyone who can to read it and forward this post to as many people as possible.... Donations can be made at www.sunrisecambodia.org.au or go directly to the donation page here: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia

12.01.2022 Sunrise is located on the outskirts of Phnom Penh and a considerable commute from downtown. Securing staff can thus be a challenge. However for over 20 years Dr. Mong, and for 15 years Dr. Phatty, have made the journey to our project. Providing first class medical care for our children. It is their dedication and love for our children that brings them to Sunrise. Our children have complete faith and trust in these wonderful gentlemen.... Today we salute our Medical Team and give our sincere thanks for a job well done!

12.01.2022 Sport is a big part of life at Sunrise, and the kids love it, especially boxing! Its popular with both our residential kids and community kids who come to Sunrise, and here are some of them posing with Geraldine and their coach!

11.01.2022 As the global pandemic of COVID-19 unfolds we know that its worse for those most vulnerable in society and in places where health systems are overwhelmed. We all, countries and individuals alike, must do all we can to get through this

10.01.2022 They say that in times of crisis, we remember what is truely important. A few months ago when we announced that we were in a dire situation, the outpouring of generosity from the Australian public was incredible. But nothing could have prepared us for the generosity of our former Sunrise kids. Pictured in the first photograph is Sin Long (with his wife, son, and Sunrise mother Pleang), and Rattanak. Both former Sunrise boys, they rallied together to raise an incredible $180...0 for Sunrise. In the second photograph is Sopheak and Kongkea (both Sunrise brothers), who raised an amazing $2300 and donated many cooking ingredients. An amazing effort! Another former student who wished to remain anonymous, literally rocked up at our doorstep with two tons of rice! These are only just a few of these stories. It would be an injustice to the rest of them to place them all in one post. We salute and applaud these fine young gentleman for giving back to the organisation that once helped them. Thank you!

09.01.2022 One of the casualties of Covid19 is that many of the young Sunrise graduates lost their jobs and the schools, unis and vocational classes were all stopped until around November. Jobs are non existent, so as a duty of care we arranged food drops and cash for those most in need and will do so until Covid19 is over. They all say thank you to the sponsors who have made this possible.

09.01.2022 The Sunrise story is one of dedicated people - supporters, staff, ex-students and more - working together to change the lives of vulnerable children. Today wed like to take a moment to say thank you for everything you have done to improve the future for generations of Cambodian kids

08.01.2022 Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) weve had to make the decision to close our centres to external visitors. We love how many supporters come to see how we look after the children in our care - and the donations and gifts for the kids you often bring - but right now we have to put their health, and that of all the support staff, first. If youd still like to support us during this difficult time what would help the most is a donation so that we can continue this important work: Donate here: http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia Sponsor a child: http://bit.ly/SunriseSponsorship

07.01.2022 Happy early birthday Geraldine. You deserve all the love in the world.

06.01.2022 Sunrise Graduate Sorn Phem, recently took out a European Fashion Design Award and in 2021 will be winging his way to Germany! The Awards are presented by 'Bazaar Berlin'. Sorn is currently studying at the Royal University Of Fine Arts and was selected from many International designers. He hopes to use his skills to assist in the restoration work of Cambodia's famous Temples. We are all so proud of Sorn for his outstanding application to his studies and his new found success! We wish him well and hope to see his designs on Europe's top cat walks in the near future!

06.01.2022 In the face of this terrible time, look at what your donations continue to do. The happiness of the children is paramount to us. Thank you so much for your continued support of Sunrise Cambodia

05.01.2022 The interview with our Founder, Geraldine Cox AM, on A Current Affair last night. This is not to be missed If youd like to donate, you can do so on our website, www.sunrisecambodia.org.au, or directly at http://bit.ly/SunriseCambodia

05.01.2022 Meet Geraldine Cox, fondly known as the grandmother of the University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS). She has been a part of the Humanitarian Affairs Asi...a family for the last 10 years since the beginning of the USLS and has inspired thousands of delegates with her heart-warming stories on life and its lessons. Geraldine started her career with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1970. She was sent to Phnom Penh for her first career post, where she encountered life in Cambodia during the Vietnam War. This experience left Geraldine shocked and horrified. Despite leaving Cambodia for a period of time, Geraldine refused to turn a blind eye to the displaced children as a result of the war. Geraldine then made a bold decision to move back to Cambodia in 1996 to help children in dire need. With a determined mind and heart, Geraldine established the Sunrise Children Villages, giving hope, a loving home and an opportunity for an education to Cambodias vulnerable children. Sunrise Cambodia has since expanded, and so has her vision to focus on rebuilding lives through sustainable community development. Whilst her journey was not always smooth, she overcame every possible hindrance and stayed devoted to helping the future of Cambodia. Her story highlights the real difference one person can make. From heart-break to triumph, Geraldine shared with USLS delegates a profound enlightenment: The greatest currency you can have is how you affect others, so always be kind to people as people will remember how you made them feel. #IamHAfamily #GeraldineCox #SunriseCambodia #USLS #throughtheyears #togetherwestand

05.01.2022 During Covid 19 our children have been blessed with an expanse of beautiful gardens and sporting facilities at Sunrise. There is a playground, soccer field and plenty of good trees to climb! Enough space to find adventure and all those precious things we remember from our childhood. Of course a garden requires maintenance and our kids pitch in to help. Each having their own small area to water every day! It teaches our children about caring for our environment and the rewards that follow.

03.01.2022 Raffles Hotel (Phnom Penh) are generous sponsors of Sunrise and this year had 4 Christmas Festive Nights where $1 from every diner who attended was donated to Sunrise. They invited me also to sell my books. An added plus was that this year they requested Phannath, a former Sunrise boy, to play his keyboard for the pleasure and amusement of the guests. We are so lucky to have this amazing 5 star Hotel behind Sunrise.... Warm thanks to Raffles.

03.01.2022 Grooming Cambodias future leaders is quite a job for our local Barber Shop! If you think girls can be fussy about their hair styles, trust me, boys can be equally demanding. They know exactly what style they like. A haircut sets us back USD$1.25 or AUD$1.65, and in Cambodia often includes a shoulder or head massage. Not such a bad deal! Your sponsorship money not only helps keep our kids healthy and educated, but looking their very best too! Thank you!

02.01.2022 Sunrise is focused on empowering our girls to become successful, independent women. Our girls learn about and embrace the equal opportunities we provide. Many continue on to University and successful careers! Sunrise remains a common foundation in their lives, and provides a special sisterhood for life! ... Thank you for supporting our initiatives in helping our girls become future leaders and role models in Cambodia.

01.01.2022 Sunrise Stories: Samuel "I dont even want to think what happens to children like him if theyre left on the street." You can help Samuel and many other children like him by helping support the work of Sunrise. Learn more at www.sunrisecambodia.org.au

01.01.2022 Do you sponsor a child? Sponsorship starts at just $50 a month and is a way for you to have a profound effect on the future of Cambodia. Not only will you give life-changing education to some of the poorest kids in the world, you will also directly transform whole families and communities.

01.01.2022 You might remember just a couple of months ago we were in a dire situation. All of that has changed thanks to you, our supporters. We now have fruit on the table everyday. Not to mention cheeky smiles and lunchtime antics.
