25.01.2022 Chickenpox is going around again! Please remember NOT to give your children nurofen/ibuprofen if you think your child has it. This type of medicine is an anti-...inflammatory. It reacts with the chickenpox making them go deeper into the skin tissue, potentially causing a more severe secondary infection. Better options: Paracetamol for fever Calamine Lotion for the itch Keep your child hydrated Always seek medical advice. #bethedifference #sjaniantrim #sjani #mysjaday #savinglives

24.01.2022 With ideas like these, your kids will NEVER be bored (and they work great with regular LEGO bricks too!)

21.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD ENROLLED IN CHILD CARE: Whether youve lost your job or are keeping your child home to prevent the spread of cor...onavirus, please dont un-enrol your child. If youve lost your job or are working reduced hours, theres financial support you can access. Please dont just pull your child out of care. To access financial support, log on to MyGov and apply for temporary financial hardship (see below screenshot). This means the government may pay your childcare fees IN FULL for 13 weeks. If youre choosing to keep your child home, the government has extended the number of allowable absences that can be covered by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This may support you to keep your child home and still receive the CCS. Remember, keeping your child enrolled will help your child care service to continue paying educators. It will also ensure that your child care service doesnt go bankrupt and that you can return to work when our economy is ready to get back on track.

21.01.2022 I think this is something that needs to be put up in all centres

10.01.2022 This week, early childcare staff and school staff across the country will go into schools where they will interact with children of medical staff who are highly exposed to COVID-19. They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They probably won't even be given hand gel. They won't get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the... children in their care don't know how scared they are; Scared for those children. Scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Thank you to all a Educators, Teachers, Teaching Assistants and anyone else heading into a early childcare and school this week to keep it running so that our amazing health workers and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and services can continue. You too are heroes!

08.01.2022 When children are playing with a stick, it can be whatever their imagination requires: something for making marks, for counting, or measuring. The best materia...ls for children are open-ended. says Doug Fargher. Doug reminds us that Aboriginal people in Australia have been teaching their children on Country for eons. Doug had the vision and commitment to start the bush kinder movement for registered ECE services more than a decade ago and I was so privileged to be part of that with Ben Benjamin Goodes, Sumi and the amazing parents for 2 years. There are now more than 150 Bush Kinders in Victoria. Thanks Doug for your leadership x

01.01.2022 The biggest issues parents are telling me about

01.01.2022 Theres never been a better (or worse) time to shine a light on the importance and high value of parenting. This crazy corona crisis is doing a great job of tur...ning life as we know it upside down - but this new perspective is not all bad. It's highlighting an issue thats been festering inside many Australian homes for decades: the high levels of stress and sheer exhaustion experienced by parents of young children trying to achieve that elusive balance of work and family. Raising children is hard enough at the best of times. But throw in a pandemic, self-isolation and working from home with your kids...well that just takes the challenge to a whole new level. To help parents through this unsettling time Tanya Dannock from Adaptability At Work has created a free A-Z guide for parents juggling work and family (and everything else!). You can download it for free here: http://adaptabilityatwork.com.au/az-guide.html And if you find it helpful please share it with other parents.
