25.01.2022 Marcus’s kinder is looking for new educators to join the marvellous team Feel free to share thank you!

25.01.2022 Come on down and buy a sausage to help support Kates son Marcuss kinder!!

24.01.2022 As 2017 draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to say thank everyone for once again supporting the clinic. We have had such a crazy, busy, wonderful year and we hope that it was just as amazing for you, too. Sunrise Osteopathy has been caring for the residents of Black Rock and Bayside for over twelve years, the last nine of which I have been the proud owner. It has been wonderful to grow to be a part of the community, and I feel privileged to be in a positi...on which has allowed me to not only facilitate health but also to get to know families and watch babies grow into happy, thriving children. It is with much excitement that I would like to advise that it is time for change and evolution at the clinic. As of Christmas, Sunrise Osteopathy will be closing its doors and in January both myself and Fiona will be treating from new practices in bayside. I am so thrilled to be able to announce that I will be joining the wonderful team at the Sports and Spinal Group, and I will be based from their Beaumaris clinic. Find out more about the clinic at www.sportsandspinalgroup.com.au and January 2018 bookings will be opening shortly and can be made by calling 9589 3777. Fiona will be taking up a position at Head to Toe Healthcare in South Road, 9555 2288. She is also greatly looking forward to the new challenges this will bring and I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her wonderful work at Sunrise Osteopathy. She is a marvellous Osteopath and woman and Im sure she will be successful in all of her future endeavours. My last day will be Monday, 18th December and Fionas will be Saturday, 23rd December. There are still a few available appointments that can be booked online at www.sunriseosteo.com.au or by calling 9597 0229. Once again, I would love to extend my heartfelt gratitude for all of the support shown to myself and my colleagues at Sunrise Osteopathy. It has been an amazing journey and I am looking forward to the next adventure!! Have a safe, healthy and joyful Christmas and a very, very happy New Year. xx Kate

22.01.2022 WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT BABIES ROLL? Learning to roll helps to lay the foundation for many other important developmental skills such as crawling and walking and... build strength in their back, neck and core muscles. Rolling also helps form connections between the left and right sides of the brain by using both sides of their body together. #funfactfriday #babydevelopment #developmentalmilestones #developmentaldelay #developmentalskills #paediatrics #osteopathy #paediatricosteopathy #osteopathicmedicine #babyhacks #babytips #parentinghacks #positiveparentingtips #mumsofinsta #mumsofinstagram #babiesofinsta #babiesofinstagram #ig_motherhood #newbornbaby #newmums #newmumlife #toddlerlife #learnthroughplay #babydevelopment #developmentalmilestones #mumandbaby #motherandbaby #firsttimemama #melbourne #bayside #stkilda #hampton #beamaris #empoweringlifelonghealth

20.01.2022 Based on the recent DHHS advice SSG is now closed for routine, non-urgent face to face appointments for the duration of Stage 4 Lockdown. Routine and non-urgen...t, face to face Osteopathic, Myotherapy and Remedial Massage is now not permitted. Care must only be provided if the absence of, or delay of this care, would result in your condition taking you to the emergency department of a hospital. If you have an appointment booked in from now until Monday the 14th of September, you will be contacted over the coming 5 days to reschedule. We will be in contact again tomorrow to outline what classifies as an emergency appointment and how you can go about booking in with our team. Our team are saddened to deliver this news. However, we are a part of something bigger than just our own community and we are committed to fighting COVID-19 together. #COVID #weinspireasateam #empoweringlifelonghealth #findyourhappy #dreamteam #happybody #happymind #happy #happiness #health #osteopathy #osteopath #myotherapy #chinesemedicine #alliedhealth #bayside #hampton #Beaumaris #melbourne

19.01.2022 All of our brain and body parts that make up mental health are largely built in infancy. These include the limbic stress system or LHPA axis, the reward system ...or mesolimbic dopamine system, mood related neurotransmitter systems or serotonin, norepinephrine, gaba, glutamate, dopamine and the microbiome in the gut. When infant relationships and experiences are nurturing in infancy the brain and body get their best chance at being resilient, mentally healthy and physically healthy. When infant relationships and experience are stressful the brain and body become highly vulnerable to mental health struggles and physical illness. How can we use this information? If we are expecting a baby or have an infant - conception to age 3 - we can learn how to nurture the infant mind, brain and body. As adults we can analyze our infancies and learn how it has formed our mind, brain, body and our mental health. This is one of the many reasons why our Osteopaths take a detailed history for the babies and children they see, as it helps to build a deeper understanding of them both physically and emotionally and plan their. management #worldmentalhealthday #worldmentalhealthday2020 #infantmentalhealth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #healthylifestyle #therapy #osteopathy #nurture #nurtureneuroscience #nurtureyourself #nurturenature #babies #mum #mumlife #dad #dadlife #infantmentalhealth #imhaw2020 #Repost @nurture_neuroscience_parenting with @get_repost

16.01.2022 Who loves being out in the GARDEN!! Diggers, excavators and dump trucks can certainly help take the load off your body when working in the veggie patch. If you dont happen to have any handy, there are still a few things you can do to keep your body happy whilst gardening 1. Bend from the knees or squat down rather than bending/leaning forward - This will help take some load off your lower back.... 2. Swap hands - if youre spending a long time weeding, alternate using both hands so that one arm/shoulder doesnt get overused. 3. Stretch- gardening is a physical activity! Stand up and roll your shoulders and walk around every 30 minutes to help prevent muscle fatigue and soreness. 4. Be SunSmart - Remember to slip slop slap and avoid the hottest part of the day. And dont forget to stay hydrated! 5. If you pull up sore, soak in a bath with some Epsom salts or give us a call on 9597 0229 to see if we can help you out :) Or book online at www.sunriseosteo.com.au Happy Gardening!!!

10.01.2022 This is for all our mothers expecting the arrival of their baby It is ok to feel upset, angry or scared that your partner can only stay for the labour and the...n only be allowed to visit for two hours each day. It is OK to grieve the loss of a normal pregnancy, of hospital antenatal classes and catching up with your friends for coffee and walks. It is OK to feel sad that your baby shower has been cancelled that you were looking forward to it. You are allowed to be disappointed that your Babymoon your last trip before welcoming your new addition - wont happen now. It is OK to cry because your big boy or big girl wont be able to meet their new baby sibling in the hospital. It is OK to be upset that your friends and family wont be able to visit you after birth or that it might be some time before they can hold your baby in their arms. It is OK to grieve your village, to feel down that mothers groups have been cancelled at a time when you need them most. It is OK to feel sad that so many of your plans for maternity leave have changed and you are learning how to be a mum in this strange new normal. It is OK to feel that the magic of this time has been stolen from you - while also being grateful for it, too. It is okay to grieve. Your feelings are valid and so are your tears. You are not alone Our team of experienced Osteopaths are here for you and there is a wealth of resources and support networks in the link below: https://www.cope.org.au/ https://www.sportsandspinalgroup.com.au/we-treat-pregnant-/ #pregnancy #pregnant #osteopathy #osteopath #myotherapy #muscle #rehabilitation #deeptissuemassage #triggerpoint #anatomy #health #fitness #injuryprevention #bayside #beaumaris #hampton #melbourne #alliedhealth #weinspireasateam #dreamteam #rehab #functionalmovement #alliedhealth #beaumaris #hampton #melbourne #bayside #weinspireasateam #empoweringlifelinghealth Art by Rita Navarro

05.01.2022 Matrescence is the process of becoming a mother used used to describe the physical, psychological, and emotional changes people go through during the monumental... transformation that is motherhood. This huge change in the emotional system (the areas lit up in white on the MRI of the mother and baby) makes mothers better at hearing emotions, seeing emotions and responding to emotions. In other words, the superpower of a mother to be responsive and close to their baby, as well as protecting them. This physiological change is permanent and not only happens to the mother but also happens to fathers, adoptive parents and L.G.B.T.Q. parents whose partners give birth as they also experience psychological and physiological attachment associated with loving and caring for a child. It really is true that becoming a parent does change us forever! 02.01.2022 Does your baby have a flat head? Do they favour sleeping or turning to one side? Have you noticed their head is tilted on the side when they are upright? ... These can be signs that they have or are developing a flat head or plagiocephaly (flatness on one side causing an asymmetrical head shape) or brachiocephaly (flatness across the back of the head). These often go hand in hand with a torticollis caused by tension in the muscles of the neck related to the way a baby is lying in utero, birth trauma or other dysfunctions in the head, neck and spine. These can be present from birth or develop over time as your baby grows. Our experienced team of Paediatric Osteopaths are trained to assess and diagnose and help you manage these issues and help to minimise their impact on your baby’s pain/discomfort levels (which can also affect feeding amongst other things), mobility and ability to meet their milestones. Check out our website below or speak with one of our team if you have any concerns about your baby at your next appointment: https://www.sportsandspinalgroup.com.au/se/babies-children/
