21.01.2022 A word from our recently completed resident Terri! Graduation from Sunrise Way to the Continuing Care Unit! It's taken 41wks + 4 days in recovery to complete a 24wk program. Did things go to my original plan to complete 12wks of the program and return home in March 2020? No. Has it been easy? No. It was scary, uncomfortable, exhausting, confronting, messy, emotional, painful, challenging and intense. ... Was it worth it? Yes. Because of those things it tested and proved my faith, courage, endurance, resilience, tolerance, vulnerability, awareness, acceptance, core beliefs and values. This program has enabled me to change some unhelpful core beliefs, restore valuable relationships, challenge negative thinking patterns, connect with strangers, stretch myself, sit with distress and discomfort, regulate my emotions, increase my self-awareness and open my mind to the possibility that I can live my best life although my personal circumstances haven't changed. Am I 'cured'? No. Recovery is a lifelong job. I am so very grateful to have the opportunity to move forward now that I believe that change is possible. This has not only been life-changing, it has been life-saving. #SunriseWay See more
