25.01.2022 A field of 96 players lined up for the final event of the 2018 Winter Carnival the Open Singles. Sectional play was conducted at Coolum Beach & Woombye with players drawn in section of 6 where each player marks 2 game and plays against each person in the Section. Games are decided by ends, the first to 7 is the winner. Three wins qualifies the player through to post sectional knockout. A total of 52 players progressed to the finals played at Coolum on a brilliant sunny day. ...One by one the field reduced until there were 4. Semi Final 1 Graeme Goss def Kevin Connelly on the final end Semi Final 2 Warwick Fredrickson def Alf Pou In a gripping final Graeme Goss emerged as our Winner. Congratulations to all the winners. To Woombye and Coolum Clubs, your officials, staff & volunteers thank you for your efforts over the Carnival, many players commented on your hospitality and the great condition of your greens. Finally on behalf of the Sunshine Coast Men’s Lawn Bowls Association and all of the players we would like to thank and acknowledge he fantastic support we have received from our Major Sponsors Sunshine Coast Council & Maroochy RSL. We would also like to thank all the players, clubs, officials and volunteers for your contributions over the Carnival have ensured the success of the event, in which our playing numbers have exceeded all previous years.
