22.01.2022 Sunshine Beach State School organised their Aboriginal students to spend the day with me to create these Gabayindah Poles. These Thank You poles say thank you t...o the Water, Mother Earth and Father Sky. The things that we need for survival. Whilst painting we were able to reflect on the greedy, destructive society we are brought up in, and all of the things that we are lead to believe that we need - but don't. We obviously need to give thanks and protection to our Water, Mother Earth and Father Sky. #aboriginal #aboriginalart #naidoc #naidocweek #mural #totempole See more

21.01.2022 PANDEMIC VICTIM Cairns' Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park has today announced it has permanently closed. The tourist attraction, which has been educating and ...entertaining visitors for 33 years, was closed temporarily at the start of the covid-19 pandemic. However, confirmation came today that it won't re-open. Former Director and Tourism Tropical North Queensland Chair, Dr Ken Chapman, said the tough decision was made amid uncertainty over future tourism. "This demonstrates just how hard it is for businesses that are successful in the international market to continue trading," he said. "It also reinforces why tourism businesses need ongoing support to tackle the challenges ahead."
