25.01.2022 Thursday morning coffee time again

25.01.2022 This is what the yard looked like after Sunday's super cell. No photos but we also have a large branch thru the roof of the hall near the change room. Hopefully repairers will arrive today.

24.01.2022 These straws will be used at this Centre now too. Thanks to the Lessismore for this great project. We plan to do what we can to help also

24.01.2022 Sunday morning coffee.

23.01.2022 A relaxed morning tea at the Centre this morning.

22.01.2022 Out rearranging the gardens. This is what I found look down at the base of the stump in photo 1 Is this plant a keeper or a weed photo 2

22.01.2022 All gardens have now been covered with bark chip. All plants seem to be going ahead in leaps and bounds. Have never seen so many of the broms flowering in all the time we have been here, (35 years this month). We need another shower to two the gardens are looking a little dry. Grass is green and just around ready for a hair cut.

22.01.2022 Grounds still looking good though some weeds are starting to make their way thru the bark chips. Will have to get out there again soon and do some weeding. Still got 1 garden to complete with the make over and then will have to start trimming hedges and trees ready for spring. The scrub turkeys have found the matting in a garden and now they are trying to pull it out. Just love those birds grrrrrrrrrrr particularly when they start walking over the house roof just after sunrise. Have noticed an increase on the poop being deposited on the plants in one particular spot. Looks like our kookaburras have an addition to their family and now we have 3 roosting there at night. The poor broms underneath are definitely getting plenty of fertiliser but don't look to good with the long white streaks on their leaves.

22.01.2022 We have a contract with Rebl Media to do promotion. Unfortunately we have received no payments this year. anyone else in the same situation.

21.01.2022 Just come back from a walk around the vehicles. WOW. some beautiful looking machine here today. Wonder who will return on the 27th December .. Walk around sipping on some great coffee. Stop by and have a look. Will be leaving by 9.30 ish.

21.01.2022 Suncoasters Square Dance Club will begin operation as soon as we get the go ahead. This is a great form of exercise both physical and mental.

21.01.2022 The garden is looking great. Some of the bark chip collected from the fallen trees has already been spread into the gardens. Nice and thick so that we hopefully won't have to weed as often. Thanks to those who have dropped off their extra plants. Most have now been planted into the gardens. Now we have the job of keeping the gardens moist till their roots take hold. Will have to take a couple of photos - before and after to show off the work being done. Bindi spraying has started also. The grass is the next project - weeding and fertilising.

21.01.2022 Looking forward to Sunday 29th November when we get to see a few more of those beautiful cars parked in the car park. A Sunday morning coffee gathering.

20.01.2022 Best time to start new classes is August

20.01.2022 I've now got my own 18v chainsaw. It's so easy trimming the agave stems and I can now trim branches. All agaves planted, broms tomorrow.

19.01.2022 Unfortunately all Square Dance Classes have gone into recess till further notice. We are still making preparations for Suncoasters Square Dance Club's 50th Birthday celebrations in May. Will keep you posted.

19.01.2022 Started on the next garden. At the moment lots of stopping and starting due to the heavy showers coming thru - makes the pulling of the weeds easier though with the soil very wet. Going to shift some of the sleepers and extend the garden edge to make a bigger garden

19.01.2022 12 months ago the Super Cell hit the Centre. Damage cause from falling tree branches. Wont have to worry about those falling branches anytime soon. The block next door is in the process of being cleared.

19.01.2022 All going well here at the Centre. School holidays with us soon and Fit Kids will have a diferent time table. The Square Dancers will have visiting callers during July.

19.01.2022 Been busy this morning out collected some Agaves, some Broms and thanks to Ethel more Broms. They all now need to be planted. Think its time for lunch and then on with the gardening clothes and back outside to design and plant . Did start on the rubbish removal yesterday but the ute is full and will start on the little trailer next. Also need to trim a few branches as well.

19.01.2022 Everything going well here at the Centre. Like everyone it would be great to have some rain. The grounds and gardens are looking really good. Thanks to our hard working gardening team. Congratulations to one of our groups had success at a recent competition.

18.01.2022 Things going well at the Centre. All groups running well. Grounds looking good. Coffee van even better.

18.01.2022 Worked on the gardens Monday and Tuesday and then gurneyed the paths and driveways for the next 3 days. Probably another day till all concrete is cleaned of moss and then back to the gardens while the ground is still damp from the recent rain.

18.01.2022 Everything is beautiful. Gardens are getting into shape, new plants being planted and weeds on the demise. All grass looking green. And the ground is starting to dry out. Lets hope we don't start getting frosts that kill everything.

18.01.2022 New classes for Square Dancing are underway. This intake will close shortly. Don't delay come and give it a go. Tuesday nights.

17.01.2022 Suncoasters Square Dance Club Christmas Newsletter and 2020 Calendar

16.01.2022 Excitement this morning. Thought snakes slept in the winter. Not this 5 ft python lurking at the back of the garage ready to head towards our back door. Took it for a holiday out the back of the property. Not sure what Bell would have done had she seen it.

16.01.2022 Suncoasters Square Dance Club will be celebrating 50 years of dancing. It is hoped that the many square dancers who have attended our regular Saturday night dance or any other sessions that they have run will come along to this very special event.

16.01.2022 Our Centre suffered quite substantial damage from the Supercell Storm on the Sunshine Coast in November 2019. A shed was smashed and had to be replaced, a large branch crashed through the hall roof and trees had to be trimmed and some removed. Luckily the Sunshine Coast Regional Council came to our assistance. We gratefully acknowledge that we were proudly supported by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council's grant's Program. Insurance only covered the damage to the buildings.

15.01.2022 A very big thank you to True Blue Tree and Stump Removal. Fantastic job done here at the Centre today. Amazing to watch these guys work. Would recommend them to any one who has large trees to be removed.

15.01.2022 Some of our groups have returned but are following all requirements. Thank you and keep up the great work.

15.01.2022 Suncoasters Square Dance Club wish to advise that we will not be dancing this week. We will reevaluate the situation on the week-end and advise then.

15.01.2022 Truer words have not been spoken. Come along on Tuesday nights now and find out for yourselves.

14.01.2022 The square dance introduction sessions are going really well. New introduction to clogging sessions are ready to commence. Contact us for time and more details.

14.01.2022 Is it Swallow nesting season? Can't leave the outside doors open or we have a pair of Swallows fly in and they don't want to leave.

14.01.2022 Square Dancing has now come under the title of "Recreational Structured Partner Dancing" and is now included in the Queensland Health Approved Dance and Physical Performing Arts Industry Covid Safe Plan.

14.01.2022 Photos from one of our gardens. What colours are we missing

14.01.2022 Happy Easter All, Keep safe and well till you visit this Centre again. The gardens and lawns will be getting a makeover during this time. By the number of people buying garden supplies at the present time I think there are going to be a lot of prize gardens out there when life gets back to normal.

13.01.2022 This is a fun activity. Great for the body and mind. Exercise and commitment is what this activity is all about.

13.01.2022 Picked Up some more Brooms today. They are all planted - I've only just got inside. Too late to take photos but I definitely will tomorrow. Garden is looking great but I've only got half way so far. Think I will have to find something else to fill the remainder of the garden with. One part I really don't know what to do as there are 2 large palm trees that drop lovely yellow fruit. Know what I'd like to do??? Any suggestions. What left is sandy soil and does get some sun.

12.01.2022 So you don't have to turn the phone.

11.01.2022 For those who miss the hot rods on the 29th November they will be back on the 27th December.

10.01.2022 New classes are starting here at the Centre. Monday at 4.00 pm we have clogging classes. Tuesday at 7.00 pm we have square dance classes. and for those driving past you will see we may have learn to breathe sessions hopefully starting soon.

10.01.2022 The side yard is almost weed free. Now its time to collect and remove the rubbish, dig out those nasty clumps of weeds, add plants and cover with bark chip. Got to find plants that are hardy and don't need much sun and would like them to flower and attract bids.

10.01.2022 Happy 34th Anniversary to The Centre. You have provided a venue for thousands to use during your past 34 years. Many more years to come

10.01.2022 Here is the finished pool garden. Going to have to buy some garden edging as the dirt is getting washed away with these heavy showers coming thru. The photos are befores and afters of similar areas. Hopefully with the sun now coming thru I will be able to get some proper lawn instead of a dandelion lawn

10.01.2022 The garden to date. Really happy with how it looks now. Just a few finishing touches to go and a few empty spots to fill

09.01.2022 A little of what is done by one of the founding members

09.01.2022 Purchased another new tool to help me dig the holes for the Spider Lillys. So this task has started - can actually see that we have started the pile isn't as high. The main problem is where will be place them all. Definitely needed that shower of rain 2 nights ago the grass has now returned to that lovely green. Some of the gardens though covered with bark haave still allowed seeds to come thru - another task to get started on. ANy one interested in volunteer some time?

09.01.2022 WOW what can I say. Nev had no idea. The look on his face when he walked into the hall on Sunday afternoon was one of sheer surprise. It was fantastic to be able to catch up with so many. A special thank you to David Pearce for his special words. Also thanks to all the travellers who attended. Victoria, NSW and Nrth Qld were all represented. Thanks also to all club members past and present, friends and family who attended or sent their best wishes. Verlie a founding member of Suncoasters was in attendance and we have made a booking with her to cut the cake for next year. Don't forget May 16th - 17th 2020 will be the big week-end of celebrations for our club. Its 50th birthday. Sunday afternoon will be another chance to catch up and remember.

09.01.2022 Still in the garden. Think only 3 gardens to go. They are the ones down either side of the hall and then the bottom garden in the corner closest to the creek and then 5 to be covered with chip. Just started on the garden??? around the pool. Not sure if I should be removing the matting, all their fine roots, left after the ferns have been removed. Let me know your thoughts. Then will need more plants to fill these sections. Going to be leaving a few spots of the fern within this garden section Used a hand spreader to spread fertiliser over the lawns on Friday, couldn't straighten my arm after I had finished. Now need some rain to water it in. Got 3 months for that to happen.

09.01.2022 We will be helping with this project too.

07.01.2022 A new Clogging Class will commence here at the Centre in our little hall on Monday 14th October at 1.00 pm. Come along and have a fun time learning this fantastic dance phase. Watch the videos posted on the Clogging Page. What a fantastic way to travel the world dancing. Yes our activities of Squares, Rounds and Clogging are done worldwide.

05.01.2022 Suncoasters Square Dance Club will be commencing new classes in February 2020. Contact us if interested in participating in the class.

05.01.2022 Unfortunately due to current regulations all Square Dance Classes have closed. We will miss our friendly groups and dance sessions but look forward to starting again hopefully not too long away. We are still making preparations for Suncoasters 50th Birthday celebrations in May so will let you know about that later.

04.01.2022 Sorry out side till dark again last night. Planting another 2 loads of plants we were able to get during the day and then watering them all. 02.01.2022 All the agaves are planted and most of the broms BUT I'm only half way along the garden. The broms are spread out not as close as I would like them but dont have enough to go any closer., Hoping to get the gardens finished by Thursday night as rain is expected Friday and the week-end which would be great for the new garden. I'll take photos tomorrow of what is finished.

02.01.2022 A block of 10 lessons will commence in the 2nd Semester after the Easter Holidays on Thursday 23rd April 2020 at 3.30pm for Pre Teens, 4.30pm for Teens and 5.30 for Adult Beginners Clogging is a group activity so a minimum of 5 people are required, there is no charge for the first lesson so come along and try Visit Suncoasters Centre Cloggers for more information
