25.01.2022 October 2020. Lake Fyans Fish Release. Greetings fellow trout fishers , How are you? I am locked down in Melbourne so can’t get out to fish. Glad that I did go when we had the opportunity.... Last year, a group of us including some Ballarat Fly Fishers members helped fisheries stock Lake Fyans with young trout, using our boats. The fish were scattered amongst the protective rushes and weed beds, making predation by Cormorants and Pelicans very difficult. This hopefully has ensured a viable population of trout this year. I am looking for a bit of assistance. Fisheries are stocking lake Fyans this week with around 3000 (65 g) rainbows and 1000 (200g) brown trout. Our small Melbourne based group won’t be able to assist due to our lockdown. I am hopeful that you can spread the word to see if there are anglers out there who are prepared to help with the stocking of the lake. Last year, we had 2 to 3 large tubs in the boats for the fish and small landing nets to release the fish. We made about half a dozen trips out to the weed beds to release the fish. I had a couple of battery powered bubblers in the tubs. It probably took about an hour. If you can help, that would be great. 25.01.2022 The Community Centre has been given to sell iwaders size is medium only. Also medium shirts. All have 2019 Tasmania Australia 38th FIPS Mouche world fly fishing championship logo on them $80 each for the waders and $40 for the shirts. Hurry they are going fast.
25.01.2022 Rug up, get warm and go get em! Today we released more fish into Eildon Pondage for the weekend 100 brown trout averaging 4kg each! These giants are ex-broo...d fish from our Snobs Creek hatchery up the road. We even got a couple of helping hands including Will, who was in the car with his mum and urged her to pull over when he saw our stocking truck. Remember if youre feeling unwell, its best to stay home. Theres always more fish in the sea (or lake). #fishinglicencefeesatwork #browntrout #SnobsCreek #target1million

22.01.2022 Trout stocking by Fisheries was a great success at Lake Fyans yesterday. Thanks Brook. 10,000 browns were released carefully amongst the weed beds around the lake. Should be a great season on the lake in about 6 months time. This should complement the 10,000 brown trout carefully seeded around the lake last year. They should be a really nice size now. Thanks to Chris Doody from Ballarat, Adam Beardon from Bendigo and Shane Young from Youngs Sports Power Stawell for bringing their boats and helping distribute fish around the Lake. Great job guys. Also, a big thanks to lake Fyans caravan park. Thanks to fisheries for their support with trout stocking of the lake and we look forward to the next release of rainbows in September.
