19.01.2022 Glasshouse Districts Cricket Club had the honour of Uncle Alan Parsons strengthening our connections to community and country during Reconciliation Round on Sat...urday 14 November. Alongside our Division One Team stood umpires, players from Nambour Cricket Club, Sunshine Coast Goanna’s, GDCC club supporters, and junior & senior players in a barefoot circle close to our stumps featuring artwork by Uncle Alan. Wunya (wun-ya) Welcome #CricketConnectingCountry Uncle Alan Parsons has created artwork for our stumps echoing this commitment and every time these stumps are driven into the ground at our club it is an Acknowledgement of Country. The circles represent the integrated community using both the Indigenous colours and white of the non-Indigenous people together in circle. The blue represents the river 'boundaries' that separated different mobs that now have a connecting pathway together in unity and sharing". Uncle Alan About the artist: Alan C. Parsons was born in Charleville and has traditional links to the Bidjira/Yiman people in Central Queensland. We acknowledge we are playing cricket on the traditional lands of the Gubbi Gubbi people and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and thank them for their stewardship of the country on which we now live and play. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
