25.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW If you want to carry out work on your own property valued at $11k or more you need to obtain a QBCC owner builder permit. But, you can’t carry out building work that involves plumbing, drainage, gasfitting or termite management. These parts must be carried out a licensed contractor.

25.01.2022 Once a deck starts to rot, the stability of the entire deck can be weakened. Regularly check for the signs. It begins with moisture, you may see discolouration or find soft spots along the wood, but it can also start out of sight. Once in, the team removed the old hardwood decking and adjusted the height to accommodate wider grey TREX composite decking boards (25mm thick instead of standard 19mm thick). 14.01.2022 It’s recommended to space decking boards evenlyAs a guide leave 3-4mm between 90mm seasoned hardwood decking boards. If you lay wet decking boards, when they dry out the gaps between them will increase further.

09.01.2022 Jason and the crew did an amazing job recently on my front entry deck extension, retaining walls and back deck renewal. The project evolved over time and in the end it was quite different from my original ideas. Jason included my ideas and also came up with some amazing suggestions which were greatly appreciated. I have ended up with something beautifully built and quite unique. The entrance to my cute house is now a huge feature of the house in Noosa Heads and I would guess ...that not only has it utilised the outdoor area well it has also added to the value of the house should I choose to sell in the future. 08.01.2022 When designing your ideal deck think about how you'll use the space and what furniture needs to fit inside it. Think about what direction the hot sun comes in from, and of course the rain. If you aren’t increasing your deck size, staying under 10m2 and under 2.4m above natural ground you won’t need council approval. However if the roof is extended you will need a permit.

06.01.2022 Is Pine ok for a deck? Treated pine is cheap, lightweight, light in colour, easy to carry and work with. But, and it’s a big but, it noticeably warps in hot to wet conditions, and it has lots of knots. Oiling and painting will help (a little) but our experience on the Sunshine Coast is that pine, never works well as a deck.

They may also vary if something is under-quoted, or, left off the price.
