20.01.2022 Standing, Walking and Running are things most of us do daily yet not many take the time to acknowledge how we do them. These are actions we learned at around 2 years of age and unless you're a professional have likely never refined since. Message me for a chat on improving your posture, ability to walk long distances or make running easier.

19.01.2022 Walking on uneven surfaces is a key component to maintaining balance.

08.01.2022 COMING SOON! BALANCING LIFE A FELDENKRAIS BASED WORKSHOP THAT EXPLORES THE DYNAMICS OF PHYSICAL STABILITY AND HOW IT AFFECTS OTHER ASPECTS OF OUR HUMAN CONDITION.... The weekend will be an introduction to developing skills that allow us to adapt more easily and less reactively (more responsively) to the unexpected. There is a great advantage to be had in appreciating how to soften into instability as an example of responsive action. The workshop will challenge us to sense more about the way we organise ourselves in the environment. Though Feldenkrais is the foundational learning method we will also play with slackline, balance beam and martial art principles. Any equipment can be adjusted to suit all comfort levels. No matter your present age or perception of fitness you will take away something new. Come prepared to have fun. Contact Phil on 0411 0477 83 for details on upcoming workshops

08.01.2022 "Harmonious, efficient movement prevents wear and tear. More important however, is what it does to the image of ourselves and our relationship to the world around us." ~ Moshe Feldenkrais. Amherst, MA (1980)

07.01.2022 Feldenkrais method. Learning to learn and unlearn

06.01.2022 Phil has been a student of movement for more than 3 decades, exploring the human potential through Aikido and the Feldenkrais method. His passion is to evolve our capacity for balance under all circumstances. For the past few years his work has brought him in contact with an awesome young boy with #cerebralpalsy... 05.01.2022 The Feldenkrais Method is much more than a movement modality. Have you heard the discussion on this very topic today, in Day 6 of the Australian Feldenkrais Online Summit 2020? #freeregistation #nottoolate #Feldenkrais #AFGSummit2020

04.01.2022 I've been investigating the affects of trauma on the body for over 2 decades through a variety of modalities. Since finding the Feldenkrais method I've been abl...e to assist people to define what is within their ability to change and what they will have to learn to work around. Here's a review from a few years back by a client who's since become a good friend with #multiplesclerosis TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN I have had MS since 2004, which mainly affects my legs & feet. In late 2016 I first discovered Feldenkrais and had my first session with LIZ PAGE After that session with Liz, I found there was a significant straightening of my spine, which had been becoming more curved over the past few years. This resulted in restored flexibility in my upper body. That was incentive enough to have more sessions. After the third session with Liz, a recurring problem with an inner thigh muscle - for which I had been having physio monthly for over four years - disappeared. Now occasionally when the muscle tightens recurs, I use a technique taught by Liz for immediate relief. Many things beyond my control affects me due to the MS, but I always feel better after a session with Liz. She is not only an excellent Feldenkrais practitioner, she is also a kind, caring, funny, empathetic person who is a delight to be around. I am so grateful that I met Liz and have experienced the benefits of Feldenkrais. I would sincerely recommend both to everyone. Pat Trevor Buderim. Qld.

04.01.2022 Balance. Fun. Play. These often become more elusive to us as we age. Join Phil Smith for a weekly Awareness Through Movement class or a 1on1 Functional Integration session.... You'll be led into a discovery of ease and freedom. PM for details and bookings.

03.01.2022 Coming to the experience of ourselves as a whole being can take time. How do we ever know if what we sense as self is actually the limit of what is truly and ...deeply possible for us to be? Instead of fixing yourself in a particular story, can it be possible to be open to the idea that there is always more of yourself to get to know, always a deeper understanding of who you are to be had? It may seem like a tall order for a movement practice to be able to awaken a deeper knowledge of yourself, but that is precisely what can happen when that practice encourages you to explore what you do without judgement and from a place of comfort and ease. Not something that a lot of modern living, or indeed living in any era, gives humanity a chance to do. The chance to slow down, the opportunity to move yourself in ways and patterns that are outside of your everyday habits, gives your mind a chance to slow down too. In this slowing down of your mind, habits of thinking get a chance to open up to exploration and question, to be looked at afresh. Today’s short Awareness Through Movement lesson, from Feldenkrais Practitioner, Vreni Booth, is the second part of a lesson shared on 16th May to this page. Both lessons work individually, but it may be interesting for some to go back and do the first lesson too. http://www.feldenkrais.co.uk/audio_viewer.php?whichAudio=22 Enjoy playing with one or both of the lessons and let yourself notice what connections of movement are awoken that may not have been a conscious connection for you in the past. Also let your thoughts run freely and notice if anything comes to mind about your day to day life and the world around you.
