18.01.2022 Interested in becoming a Referee? Perhaps you were set to do a course before the lockdown came into effect. Well now you can start your journey by registering for an online version of the normal intro course. Login to the Rugby Learning Centre, select a date that suits and away you go. You'll be set to get on the park once the lockdown ends.

15.01.2022 Congrats to Jess Ling and Logan Pickering who have been awarded Student Scholarships for 2020. This award is a great opportunity for young referees to get a taste for higher level Rugby and the pathway in front of them.

13.01.2022 Interested in having a crack at Refereeing - last chance for 2020 is coming up. It will be run via ZOOM on Wednesday 5th August from 6pm 8.30pm. Course participants MUST register via the Rugby Explorer portal (see below instructions) so that they get sent the ZOOM link on the day of the course. ... Course outline for those who might not be across how it runs: 1. Referee Ready Webinar 2.5 hours delivery via ZOOM 2. Online modules which must be completed to attain the certificate: SmartRugby, Law Exam, Member Protection, Code of Conduct, Game Management Guidelines. 3. For junior referees this is all the need to get started. 4. For anyone over 15 years of age, they are able to enrol in the Level 1 Referee Accreditation upon completion of Referee Ready. Hope to get as many of your people as possible on the course. See pic below for how to register. We are particularly interested in having girls/ladies get involved to support the growth of Womens Rugby on the coast.

12.01.2022 G’day all For those of you not so flash with old school emails. On Sunday morning (1st March) we will be holding a presentation of Rugby Australia’s 2020 Game Management Guidelines. ... Our presenters will be Rohan Hoffman (Referee Manager for Qld) and former Super Rugby Referee and Will Pugsley (local lad and now member of National referee panel!) While there are NO law changes applying to community rugby in 2020, they will run through the key areas referees will be focussing on this year and ensuring understanding and interpretations are as consistent as possible across the Sunny Coast Referees group. This will include High tackle framework you will have seen the angst created by inconsistent interpretions at last years World Cup Use of Blue Cards Creating space and a fair contest at the tackle / ruck Refereeing Scrums Intentional knock-ons PK, Yellow or Red The presentation will (at this stage) be held at Mathew Flinders Anglican College - Room Q3 in the Sports Centre from 9.30 am and finished by 11 bring just yourselves For our referees you should consider this as a must attend if you want to be a current as possible in your thinking about the laws and how to apply them!
