14.01.2022 The video was taken by Jason at Numinbah Valley. A couple of large Lamington Spiny Crayfish were fighting over a dead Red-bellied Black Snake at the base of a 20m waterfall. Not sure how the snake had died, perhaps it had gone over the waterfall.

08.01.2022 It has taken a while but the Sunshine Coast Snake ID app for your smart phone has been finally released. It contains; - and easy to use visual list of snakes and reptiles that have been mistaken for snakes found on the sunshine coast including some common variations. - Toxicity levels for each species. - Step by step, easy to follow instructions to first aid should you be unfortunate enough to be bitten by a snake.... - Scale counts to help you identify snakes from their shed skins. - Contact numbers to aid you with any snake problems. It also includes at least one typo! :( I check and check and check but.. ) The android version can be found at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details And Apple version is in the pipeline. Version #2 is also in the pipeline. This will also include; - additional species ( like the yellow bellied sea snake I rescued the day after the app was released ). - better instructions on how to count scales - Identifying shed shed skins

People rely on us for accurate information and it is irresponsible for what should be a trusted site with accurate information. But I am not without humor so here is a lizard having a joke.

01.01.2022 Smart non-herper punters treat all snakes as dangerous, especially in Aussie - If you became overly familiar with the harmless hooded scalyfoot legless lizard (...lower) and then came across a Western brown snake (aka gwardar - upper) particularly at night, it may be difficult to correctly separate the two. Keep in mind that the smallest brown snake implicated in the death of a bite victim was only 18cm (7 inches). See more
