21.01.2022 Message from Life Member, Colin Cass I yesterday received a get well gift from SHCC. This came as a complete surprise and I am genuinely honoured to be thought of in such light. The triple heart by-pass surgery I had was physically and emotionally testing, as Darren Sandars would attest to. You worry about your future and have plenty of time to reflect on your life and what is important. ... I spent much time thinking of the magnificent citizens that make up our club. I thought about the experiences, the conversations, the brightness in the faces of all that come to our club. It is a place where people want to be. I thank you from the bottom of my heart to all at Heights. One of the things that also struck me was how we are all different at the club, but then we are all the same. Isa migrated to Australia from Ireland and Gwen was a proud Gunditjmara woman. They've left a great legacy through Willy, Porky and their respective siblings. May they Rest in Peace

02.01.2022 VALE Dean Jones Sunshine Heights president, Nick Hatzoglou, and I had the amazing privilege (thanks to our Sri Lankan tour manager, David Cruse) of sharing an evening with Dean Jones, Waqar Younis, Chris Broad, Angelo Mathews, Russell Arnold, Rameez Raja and Aravinda DeSilva at Aravinda’s Colombo mansion back in June 2015. I will never forget the way in which Deano welcomed and embraced Nick and I through an amazing night of cricket conversation, including his rankings of th...e great West Indian fast bowlers and cricket trivia questions. A couple of years later, I remember Deano storming into the MCG media control centre (where I was working) to confront the IT people responsible for representing the Pakistani players’ names incorrectly on their software package. So many memories of Deano the cricketer but these two experiences said so much about Deano the person. May he Rest In Peace Matthew Shawcross - SHCC Vice President of Cricket Operations
