02.01.2022 I am honoured to be the WA Labor candidate for the North Metropolitan Legislative Council Region at the upcoming State election on 13 March. A little bit about ...me. I was born in Ethiopia and raised in South Sudan and Kenya. I moved to Australia with my mum and siblings in 2005. As a child I lost my father to armed conflict in South Sudan and lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for many years before we were able to come to Australia to start a new life. I've worked as an international model and an accountant, I established my own modelling agency, founded Face of South Sudan Beauty Pageant (Perth) in 2012 and Africa Fashion Week WA. I want to be a voice for my community and other migrant communities in the WA Parliament. Since arriving in Western Australia as a 16 year old with a carry-on suitcase, I gained an education, started a successful business, and established a family. I want to ensure that other newly arrived Australians are given opportunity to succeed and thrive as I have. I am passionate about supporting and mentoring young women and if elected I am committed to ensuring that our Party and Parliament are a place where young women like me are supported and encouraged. I want to join Mark McGowan's team to continue my active involvement in the community and work to deliver WA Labor's plan to keep WA safe and strong.
