23.01.2022 This year’s QLD MTBO Championships The Gordon Howitt Memorial Event was held in honour of Gordon Howitt. Sadly Gordon passed away last year but he will always be remembered for being a foundation member of Sunshine Orienteers. Gordon was an inspiration to all and worked tirelessly for the club (alongside his beautiful wife Cath & daughter Dawn). Thanks to Cath & Dawn & the Howitt family for coming along to the presentations today.

14.01.2022 Plenty of action at the Sunshine Orienteers’ Christmas party at the Caloundra Mallet Sports Club today. The poker run & ride were fun and food was great. Club members also got to have a go at croquet! Well done Mark & Kathy Petrie and the hard working team of helpers for putting on a fun day for everyone.

07.01.2022 Sunshine Orienteers’ Christmas Breakup Sunday 28th November Helpers wanted! ... So far this is what’s happening: We will havepoker runs setup for members on seperate Mountain Bike and Foot maps for Sunday morning. The Start and Finish will be at the Caloundra Mallet Club. Members can complete both events to have two poker hands as long as they start in time. Each event should take most people less than hour. The poker runs will be followed by lunch at the Mallet club. After lunch members can try the sport of Croquet. There is no cost for members, but we will need helping hands on the day to set-up the map runs and the lunch. Still a few details to be finalised such as start time & non-member costs. Keep an eye on Facebook as we’ll update again soon.

06.01.2022 We had 22 runners at Palmwoods for our last event for the year. Thanks to mapper and event organiser Ross McGinnis for making it an enjoyable and festive event with a control on a light post in the middle of the map decorated in Xmas lights spelling 151 - the control number.

06.01.2022 Night Nav was at Brightwater tonight. Fast & furious for some, a nice evening stroll around the parks and canals for others. Luckily the storms stayed away! See you at Sunshine Beach next week!

06.01.2022 Qld Mountain Bike Orienteering Champs 2020. What an awesome weekend of riding and racing. We feel privileged to have been able to hold an event and are thinking of our "cousins" in lockdown who can only think of doing an MTBO. I have included some maps for you to peruse. Congratulations to the overall winners, the sprint, middle and long winners. Anyone that was out there and had a good time are a different kind of winner. It wouldn't be possible without our army of voluntee...rs. You know who you are. Take a bow and thankyou. If you haven't volunteered in some capacity please consider it seriously. On a personal note I was wondering if I set a record today. I took an hour 22 min to find one control. But oh what an adventure I had! Here are a few more pics. Deb Gordon. See more
