Don't add silkies to an established flock of large chickens, they are always the bottom of the pecking order and will be attacked by bigger girls. They need their own pen, or mixed with other bantams or silkies. The sebright will happily live with the silkies.

16.01.2022 Thank you to the customer who called the RSPCA on us today because our 'chickens are panting so they must all be dying.' Chickens do not sweat. They pant on hot days to cool down, just like dogs do. We spent several hours changing their water continuously throughout the day so it stayed cool. They have electrolytes added to the water, and they all have shade. Today, as with all the over 40c days we've had this year, we did not lose a single chicken. The RSPCA were happy with our chicken care. We will be doing the same thing again tomorrow. If the complainer would like to spend a few hours here to help change water, they are welcome to.
