Shane VanGisbergen of course went to Monza for the Blancpain GT Series, Scott McLachlan was turning the spanners at Kart tracks around the country, Tim Slade headed overseas, Craig Lowndes took a week to recharge his batteries with a holiday, while Jason Bright continued to work on his new enterprise Task Force the company launching its new website this week.

15.01.2022 This year, at most of the V8 Supercar events teams have two x 60 mins practice sessions to prepare their cars for the weekend of racing. The increase of time at most events has also come along with a significant reduction of testing. The idea is to allow teams not only to prepare their car for the races ahead, but also to give them time for providing their endurance drivers some seat time, along with testing any new components that they might want to consider for other events in the season.

His back to back victories followed a Pepsi Max 1-2 in qualifying. 03.01.2022 V8 Supercars announced during the Clipsal 500 that they would be taking over the V8 Ute Category Management Agreement next year. This now means that V8 Supercars will have control of three major Australian Motor Sport series, (V8 Supercars Series, Dunlop Series and V8 Utes).

03.01.2022 Eugine Arocca, CEO of the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS), proposed it is not unfathomable that Ballarat could host a World Touring Car Championship. Arocca highlighted Ballarat’s proximity to Melbourne as a significant factor. The right track could very well be attractive enough for something like that. Also influencing the decision in the upcoming report to Ballarat City Council about the economic feasibility of a multipurpose motor sport complex in the region.
