25.01.2022 It's always great to go and see how the work done previously delivers the result that was initially intended when we were initially. We had a bank full of weeds that was hard to maintain unless you are a mountain goat . After spraying the bank out, adding a layer of geotech and planting out with an Australian native ground cover and then adding a layer of mulch this is the end result. The first 2 photos are from 2018 and the last one from 2020.... Its great to see what we envisioned has come to fruition. 19.01.2022 It's that time of year again where the aphids are having a ball on the roses. In the past we would have sprayed these pests. Last Spring we did something similar and we ended up with these beneficial insects hanging around in the garden. We have released adult and baby green lacewing bugs to help get on top of our aphid problem. They can eat up to 60 aphids in an hour.... The other option is to spray pesticides but these remove the food for the beneficial bugs and mean that you end up with less beneficial bugs visiting your garden. It does take a little patience for the beneficial bugs to do their job but the end result is much better for the circle of life. 17.01.2022 It's nice to break the norm and finish planting out this garden. We added 30 new English Box to create the 2nd stage of the hedge followed by a red Japanese Maple. We also planted 10 Dichondra Silver Falls to help cover the existing rock wall. The power planter got a good work out today too. The final picture is of a yard that has been fertilised, broad leaf sprayed and spray with pre-emergent. We've expanded our pre-emergent range - great for stopping most common weeds in grass and also in pavers in pool areas. In some cases a reduction of 95% of weeds popping up. 08.01.2022 As many would know that follow our page we love to capture what's in the garden. This Green Bottle fly was even more amazing allowing me to get so close to take a photo like it was posing for it. Also a little before and after 2 weeks apart from a scalping fix up. Very pleased with the results.... The lacewings we released have been working hard eating the aphids. You can see the white skeletons from where they have sucked the insides out of the aphids. It's great seeing nature do it's thing. 08.01.2022 It's been around 3 weeks since we released out first lot of Lacewings to take control of our Aphid problem. We also did a 2nd release about a 19 days ago of 2000 baby Lacewings. Let's have a look at what we have left. The white looking insects are what's left of the Aphids after the Lacewings sucked the insides out of them.... The brown Aphids have been parasitized by a wasp and are called mummies. The larvae will feed itself on the Aphid killing it before leaving the Aphid. We are very pleased with the results. After 3 weeks our Aphid problem is under control with only the use of beneficial insects. 08.01.2022 Here is a product review that I would like to share with our wonderful followers. Last year we went into stage 2 water restrictions. We went looking for a solution that was cost effective and complied with stage 2 restrictions. Since then we've installed a number of b-hyve timers for our customers with the WiFi controller.... You can setup weather monitoring, remotely turn them on from anywhere, scheduling, monitoring how much water you are using and can be setup to tun off tank or town water. These can be used for watering your garden and also your grass. Stage 1, does require us in Sydney and Blue Mountains to water within specific time frames.
