22.01.2022 Storyline for teaching the h sound: It is a school’s sports day. The children are having a hopping race. By the time they get to the finish line they are hot and panting. They say h/h/h. Action for teaching the h sound: Hold hand in front of mouth panting as if you are out of breath and say h/h/h. Teaching an action associated with a sound/letter, telling a related story about it showing pictures, singing a song and making the letter with some plasticine can help trig...ger young learners memories into remembering the sound. Children have different learning styles and by teaching using Multisensory methods, it gives children a better chance of forming lasting connections with their learning. #superkidstutoring

17.01.2022 Tricky words are frequently used words that children cannot read and write simply by blending and listening for the sounds; either the words use phonic knowledge that has not been taught yet, such as the alternative spellings for /ie/ in ‘like’ and ‘my’, or the words are irregular, as in ‘said’, ‘one’, and ‘two’. When I teach tricky words, I always ask my students to tell me about the parts they know and what parts are tricky. In the word ‘said’ for example, the ‘s’ and ‘d’... say their sounds but the middle part is tricky and I teach students strategies to remember how to read and write those words. . . . . #trickywords #sightwords #irregularwords #words #wordwall #readandwrite #spell #earlychildhoodeducation #literacy #readers #kindergartenkids #yearone #yeartwo #primaryschool #kids #mums #dads #doublebaymums #doublebay #easternsuburbsmums #readingtutor #writingtutor #teach #skills #strategies #tutoring #superkidstutoring @ Super Kids Tutoring See more

10.01.2022 Kindergarten parents, try this at home to help your child consolidate their sound knowledge. Once children have learnt to identify a group of sounds and read words made with those sounds, practise writing words with those sounds. Extension: Use words they have written to create a sentence, e.g ... ‘The red cat can bat’. ‘A big ant sat in a pan’. The sillier the sentence the better! . . . #sounds #letters #phonics #learntoread #learntowrite #literacy #earlyliteracyskills #earlychildhoodeducation #preschoolkids #kindergartenkids #yearone #yeartwo #earlyyearseducation #jollyphonics #readwords #writewords #sentences #readingteacher #writingcoach #tutoring #sydneyeasternsuburbs #doublebay #doublebaymums #mums #dads #kids #superkidstutoring

08.01.2022 Along with using correct grammar, a good writing program also teaches correct punctuation. A sentence won’t make sense without the correct punctuation. Understanding how punctuation is used in writing can also assist us when reading.... . . . . . #writing #punctuation #grammar #writingskills #sentences #primaryschoolkids #literacy #education #earlychildhoodlearning #learntowrite #questionmark #fullstop #speechmarks #exclamationmark #comma #apostrophe #fullstop #jollygrammar #kids #mums #dads #doublebaymums #easternsuburbs #doublebay #tutor #doublebaytutor #superkidstutoring @ Super Kids Tutoring See more
