07.01.2022 For those of you who have businesses which provide service areas and have added extra locations, this relates to you. Google announced they are now limiting the number of places that a service area business can list to 20. Google will automatically convert the service areas of businesses with more than 20 places to a region with a similar geographic area. Google has already started implementing these changes, but they haven’t stated when these changes will impact all service ...area businesses. To comply with this update, Yext will only sync service area data to Google for locations with 20 service areas or less; all other listings data will continue to sync as normal. We noticed that some of our clients currently have more than 20 service areas listed in Yext, so we encourage you to update this information as quickly as you can. The easiest way to cover your service area is to only choose the perimeter suburbs and then Google will fill in the areas between. There is no need to list every suburb individually. Example below is the area covered for the Mornington Peninsula and extra suburbs, only 5 suburbs needed to be listed and Google has filled in the entire area. Mordialloc, Narre Warren, Tooradin, Portsea and Flinders. For a larger area of Melbourne used as an example you would just choose the outlying suburbs then Google will fill in the areas between as your service area.
