Its been so great teaching year 7 - 10 PE classes online & to find different ways to keep them engaged in exercise.

22.01.2022 The best source of vitamin D is UVB radiation from the sun ... For most people, adequate vitamin D levels are reached through regular incidental exposure to the sun. When the UV index is 3 or above (such as during summer), most people maintain adequate vitamin D levels just by spending a few minutes outdoors on most days. In late autumn and winter in some southern parts of Australia, when the UV index falls below 3, spend time outdoors in the middle of the day with some skin uncovered. Being physically active also helps boost vitamin D levels. Source @cancercouncil 12noon Express Movement (30 mins) session - all boxes ticked for today
22.01.2022 One thing weve been able to do since restrictions began has been to keep our KidsFit program running, and we opened it up to our pilates members with kids, and High School PE classes. The fitness classes are interactive, energetic, LIVE & recorded. Weve used household items such as books, chairs, cans of food, toilet paper, coins, tennis balls to keep the kids engaged and challenged. Walking, running, cycling are all awesome at getting your kids outside & moving, but keep...ing their strength, mobility, coordination practice up is also hugely beneficial to their growing bones & muscles. Our online household membership is available to the whole family - kids fitness, mat pilates, express movement, semi private pilates & functional strength. This is one area of your life where you have control right now Message for further info.
21.01.2022 I wish group fitness classes were around when I was a kid! Learning how to use weights, to move my body correctly, to build core strength would have made such a difference to my sporting performances. What a great option for the non-sporty kids too! A way for them to develop their own strength and fitness and love for exercise without throwing a ball (oops! Do deadballs count ). Kids & Teen small group fitness classes run in our Altona North studio every Tuesday & Th...ursday after school. Send us a message to arrange a free trial.
21.01.2022 ONLINE IS OPEN Studio will re open when the authorities give the all clear but for now we dont stop moving because that is certainly one thing we can control right now. Time to plan your week, block out your schedule to fit your sessions in, let the household know when you have set time for you & show up. The rest will make you feel awesome
21.01.2022 Relaxed is how I feel after a 2 week break, and ready to get back into the studio. Full schedule returns Monday, 11th Jan. Have you booked your sessions?... New members welcome - men, women, young, mature, fit, injured. All welcome so please reach out if you’re ready to begin or to recommence your pilates journey. Janis x
21.01.2022 YES! Im the lucky one with teenage twin daughters Theyre actually the reason I found pilates! You see, I put on about 22.5kg carrying these girls until 34 weeks & I wore them all out the front. My poor back couldnt wait to see them get out! Pilates taught me how to move safely, and what to engage when. It taught me how to breathe for core engagement as well as to breathe for mindfulness. Pilates helped me to strengthen and restore my back. It would also lead me into bec...oming a small business owner (a decade later!), something I had no previous dreams about! Alexis & Madeline are my girls names and Im just the luckiest mum around
20.01.2022 2020 taught us that we don’t always have to be in the studio or gym to keep our movement practices up. So from wherever you are Super Movers, join me today at 5pm for a LIVE Mat Pilates Foam Roller session ONLINE. I’ll be up in the trees. Where will you be joining in from?
20.01.2022 Anyone else smashing their first week back at work? #wellrestedwoman #studiopilates
20.01.2022 Oh this was fun and challenging. If youre ready to take your hamstring work up a notch, give this is a go and let us know how you went. No foam roller? Thats ok, use a yoga block, book, step.

19.01.2022 Today is World Premie Day and here are my little treasures born at 34 weeks. I couldn’t bring my babies home for 2 weeks after they were born. We were the lucky ones. There was a family near us who celebrated their 100th day in Special Care. I’d love to know how they are doing now. Swipe for my teenage treasures who are my absolute world #worldprematurityday #premiebabies #premietwins Shout out to @being_leah for the awareness

19.01.2022 Saturday morning pilates with Super Movers over Zoom. We always work across all planes, and today we played a special focus on side bends - to stretch and strengthen. Side bends are particularly good at helping to strengthen your core and back. Side bends help to lengthens the muscles between the ribs and pelvis, including parts of the low back. It opens the sides of the rib cage, improving mobility and lung space, which makes breathing easier. Your obliques, lats and ...QL muscles jump for joy after these exercises. start in a comfortable range and use the breath to facilitate more range as you go. my guys must have liked it because there were plenty of virtual hugs at the end
19.01.2022 Saturday night iso bubbles and comfy clothes Cheers to all my beautiful members who worked so hard this week getting in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & even 6 sessions Have a cry (as I did today) but find a way to bounce back and give yourself a big ol cuddle
18.01.2022 So you’re following this page or # so I figure you’re already thinking about your own health and fitness. Guess what? You ARE half way there. Now is the time to think about the next steps YOU need to take to effect change? Is it - Finding an exercise program / coach to compliment you? Or are you just doing what everyone else is doing? Establishing a routine in your life which will enable you to practice? Does that mean cutting back on something less of a priority? Convin...cing people in your life that you NEED this for you. Writing down the Goal - having something on paper is sometimes all it takes. Is your goal to lift heavier? Exercise 4 times per week? Work towards a particular exercise or movement that you watch other people do and wish you could? Realise that you are already progressing towards IT but now is the time to put in the work and to make IT happen. Remember You Can Do It
18.01.2022 Merry Christmas from my family to yours And big hugs to those unable to be with family at this time x

18.01.2022 Part 3 of Sandas story: Looking back at this photo warms my heart, and even moreso after reading Sandas story. To see a clients progression and sheer joy when they accomplish a goal is incredibly rewarding. Theres so much to take from Sandas story, and Ill leave that to you the reader. I just want to re-iterate her final words of wisdom - the importance of self care and remind you of a few things you can do each day whether in lockdown or not. ... Move more, sit less #keepmoving Spend some time outside each day #vitamind Do something just for YOU #selfcaredaily Express gratitude to another person #gratitudedaily Eat vegetables #eatmoreplants Get plenty of sleep #sleepwell
18.01.2022 The loop band gets used so much in glute activation and strengthening drills Have you tried it to spice up your ab workouts? Here’s a short but effective sequence - do as many good quality reps as you can today and then see if you can beat it tomorrow

17.01.2022 Big hugs to everyone who has had a tough year - mentally, physically, financially, and all the other ... lys. I’ve chatted to a few people over the last couple of days who really would benefit from giving themselves a break from being so hard on themselves and practicing some #selflove #selfcare Fellow Melbournians, you’ve been deep sea diving for 8 months. Give yourself a chance to come up slowly for breath & to settle into a new routine. No-one wants to get the bends!!!... Photo taken in beautiful Bright Easter 2019. 17.01.2022 Time to let the week go and tune into your body with this beginner mat pilates session.
16.01.2022 Can you think of a time in your life when you did something you thought you couldn’t do or perhaps it was that you just hadn’t tried to do it before? A strong memory for me is the good ol’ push up Pre-kids I loved going to this boxing gym near my work in St Kilda There were men and women in the class but the trainer never encouraged the women to do push ups on their toes. So we just all did it on our knees. Fast forward to my return to exercise post-kids, where I joined... an outdoor exercise group I remember being on my knees doing push ups and the trainer came over to me and said I want you to try and do just one push up on your toes. Of course I had self doubt & said I can’t do that! Every session I attended I built the number of push ups I did on my toes before reverting back to my knees when I fatigued. I remember feeling this wonderful sense of accomplishment the day I did 10 push ups in a row on my toes. What a feeling It’s easy to focus on the I Can’t. Why not set your self a little goal this week and focus on the I Can. You never know, it might just turn your self doubt into a new accomplishment, and then reward yourself with a new pair of shoes
15.01.2022 HAPPY IS what I am feeling today. Is it because its a glorious start to Spring in Melbourne #melbournespring Is it because Im better at teaser than I was a year ago #teasertuesday ... Is it because Im hopeful that Stage 4 restrictions will be lifted in less than 2 weeks #countdownison Its just because #lovelifelive
15.01.2022 While the storm was battering down, we got moving with a Fitball Fun Workout The Fitball is seldom used in a mat class - catching runaway balls are not part of the session but its so great how many of you have one at home & we get to play together Session was recorded for those Super Movers who couldnt make it & uploaded into our Private Group.
15.01.2022 What a way to end the day THANK YOU to everyone who trained with us on this special Monday From 6:30am to 7pm today, we’ve ran 8 sessions - online, in studio & outdoors. Something for everyone.
15.01.2022 Between COVID, parenting, working, keeping the house in order, being a partner, caring for elderly parents our minds often run a hundred miles per hour. On this Day 1 of Women's Health Week, let's focus on a Mind Full, as opposed to being mindful. Whats the difference? We look to Allison Sharpe's image and definition. Mind FULL is messy, sad, overwhelming, unproductive, not good. Mindful on the other hand is calm, and nice like eating a warm chocolate chip cookie. Mind FUL...L is future focused whereas being mindful is now focused. Mind FULL adds two items to your to-do list for each one you check off. Mindfulness lets you enjoy one moment, task or event at a time. Find a moment today, and for each other day of this week to practice being in a state of mindfulness. Here are two practices to get you started: * Mindful Body Scan in a sitting or lying position. Start at your toes and travel your mind slowly and thoughtfully up towards your head. * Mindful Walking Meditation. Pay attention to the leaves, the sound of the wind, the smell of the new Spring blossoms, the way your feet feel as you walk.
15.01.2022 Its been a big week and were so thrilled to have been part of Womens Health Week 2020. We end the week with a FREE Pilates based movement session at 5pm today. We will go LIVE on Facebook, and together we will Pause, Relax & Take a Deep Breath xx

12.01.2022 My morning crew ought to be very proud of their push up progression over the last few months Using the toilet rolls (or book, food cans) as a marker is a really nice way for you to see your improvement and increase in strength over time.
12.01.2022 It’s a MUST! A visit to @lecapucin_portsea for a memorable breakfast or lunch by the stunning ocean. They also do take home meals - Beef Bourguignon, Tarragon Chicken, Coq Au Vin. ... Be sure to say hi to Loic & Kirsty when you’re there
11.01.2022 Just a wee bit excited to leave the 25km ring of steel! Spent the weekend with my most beautiful friends and now for a Sunday Teaser in the stunning Portsea
11.01.2022 Part 2 of Sandas Story: ... I then began to notice the gradual worsening pain and weakness in muscles and tightness in joints where I eventually ended up bed bound. What happened to the muscles I had trained? No longer any strength to participate even in the semi private Pilates sessions. Changing doona covers or stirring the pan during cooking felt like I have been lifting heavy weights. And mind and body are so intertwined, one does not function well without the other f...unctioning well. I began to worry if there was something seriously wrong.. I expected a blood test would show an unusually high level of inflammation markers ? My blood test shows an extreme level of vitamin D deficiency. I have been spending too long a time indoors. I am still on the road to recovery. I just want to share that, at least in my experience , we must make more efforts in self care when working from home. And it is scarily amazing how vital Vitamin D plays a part in our muscle health. Stay well people.
10.01.2022 We have got so much space for our studio pilates, functional strength & kids fitness classes. We got this team Super Movement
09.01.2022 Help Us, Please! Victorian Pilates studio owners and instructors are doing it tough. We dont meet the criteria for the Emergency business support fund and are doing our best to operate in these tough conditions. We are a vital element of the health and wellbeing of many Victorians but are consistently left out in the cold by Local and State support mechanisms. I have been writing to anyone who will listen to help get some eyes on this because we what all want to... do is work safely with out clients - they way we have always done - and support them to better health. As businesses start to reopen we note that personal care and other industries will be permitted to operate, yet we cant, even in a 1:1 setting - help us do this! We have beeb closed since the third week of March. The proposed re-opening date of late November may bankrupt many small local businesses and send talented instructors interstate in search of employment. Can you help us work in a safe 1:1 or 1:4 environment and meet out commercial obligations? Please write to your MP and local councillors to help us, help you. We need you! Janis Wilson on behalf of Super Movement. Thanks to Nicholas Psarros of The Pilates Teacher Network and @themovementrefinery for your lead

07.01.2022 2 0 2 0 B E G O N E. Whilst I have a new found love of - Cats, listening to podcasts whilst walking around the same streets, my dishwasher, live music streams, knowing people’s homes without ever having stepped foot inside them, Friday 5pm Margaritas, waking up 5 minutes before I start work, Zoom filters, Australia Post.... I’m more than happy to leave the following in 2020 - Seeing the Premier’s face every Sunday, fake news, Trump, not having even one minute alone in my house - ever, not seeing my family and friends for weeks and months on end, planning something for it to be pulled out from underneath me, listening to 4 year olds talk about hotel quarantine, remote learning. I’m thankful to be living in Australia, to have a business that didn’t die in 2020 and to have the best 4 roomies ever - Cory, Alexis, Madeline and Harvey boy. I’d certainly chose you all again if lockdown rears it’s ugly head in 2021
07.01.2022 The most common thing I hear from mums is I don’t have time. Why? I ask. Well, I take Tom to guitar on Monday, Jade to swimming on Tuesday, Tom & Jade to tennis on Wednesday, Tom to Art Class on Thursday & my husband has indoor soccer every Friday night. Don’t get me started on the weekends! It’s great (maybe ) that your kids are exploring every extra curricular activity on planet Earth, but why is it that you put everyone else’s needs before your own? You tell me y...ou feel tired, unfit, weak, that you have a sore back, feet, shoulders, that you’d love to get out of the house for an hour and meet new people, that you used to exercise 3 nights a week pre-kids, blah, blah, blah. Well I say it’s time to COMMIT - there’s that awesome C word! Commit to putting yourself first, Commit to a schedule, Commit to your mental health, Commit to your body, and all the rest will follow
07.01.2022 I AM OK this morning I wasnt yesterday. But thats ok. We expect ups and downs during a pandemic and 5 months of lockdown ... and counting. Nature, friendship, movement, nourishment, gratitude are my self help tools. R U Ok? How are YOU traveling? Have you been feeling down for a while? Have you spoken to someone about it? What do you think you could do about it? ... So many questions, and so many different answers depending on your circumstances. There are people who can help. Visit @ruokday for further information xx
07.01.2022 It’s good to be back & I’m trialing a new viser with the view of getting our SM logo on it. Pretty perfect on a day like today

05.01.2022 Now who doesn’t love a short spine on their first day back in the studio Tina re-joined us half way through lockdown and has really committed to her movement. She set time aside for herself a couple of times a week doing online sessions, despite home schooling and working full time. Well done Tina. You ought to be very proud of yourself, as I was today seeing how far you’ve come

04.01.2022 While life expectancy is higher for women than men in most countries, a number of health and social factors combine to create a lower quality of life for women. Unequal access to information, care and basic health practices further increase the health risks for women." Source WHO. Women's Health Week is a great reminder to take time out and to take charge when it comes to your health. Small steps that you take now could lead to positive changes for the rest of your life.
03.01.2022 It’s time to plan your week of movement: Book your sessions, starting with Monday #neverskipmondayworkout Let your household know when you will be unavailable. ... Get your clothes ready the night before. No excuses. Feeling tired, stressed, too much work to do? You got this
03.01.2022 I joined in Laurens beginner mat pilates flow this morning & I felt so calm and re-set in my mind and body afterwards. I usually train pretty hard - in my pilates and strength training. Im working on finding more balance in my own routine and todays session gave me just that. Its so wonderful to have Lauren & Manuella teaching our clients and to enjoy the benefits of varied yet expert instruction, pace & personality And I was so excited to see the crew wearing their Super Movement t-shirts
03.01.2022 There’s nothing truer than this statement after having SAT, ATE, DRANK for two solid days I woke up this morning and my stiff body was screaming for some pilates. Here’s a sample of some of my favourite positions to relieve and mobilize. I feel like a new person
02.01.2022 Andrew misses the equipment like most of our studio clients, but hes found an appreciation for what the pilates mat work has to offer. He hasnt missed a semi private online mat class since Lockdown began in March. Friday is his pilates day he told me this morning We just gotta keep on pushing through
02.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to my dad, my father in law & the most incredible father to our daughters. Us ladies are very lucky to have you in our lives - you are all caring, loving, supportive men and for that we are super grateful PS @dj_goldenaxe do you think you can still carry them both at the same time?

02.01.2022 Research has "found that many women dont feel that they deserve long stretches of time to themselves, the way men do. They feel they have to earn it. And the only way to do that is to get to the end of a To Do list that never ends ...' Brigid Schulte. Making time in your life for yourself is critical. If might not always feel possible, but there are little things you can do to Take Charge of the situation - * Make yourself the priority (for a change!)... * Be your own friend and stop that inner critical voice from calling you out. * Have a bath - an uninterrupted bath, that is. * Make time to rest - just like you may spend 30 minutes exercising, rest and sleep time is just as valuable for the body to repair cells, restore energy, and release molecules like hormones and proteins. * Team up with a friend and keep each other accountable for finding "You Time". 02.01.2022 Janine has shown one of the biggest improvements in her pilates practice since starting just before we closed the studio in lockdown # 1. She moved from weights and cardio training to pilates following pelvic instability issues. And then she fell pregnant with baby # 2. Janine has been so focused, committed and dedicated to strengthening her body over these last few months. Her mindfulness is remarkable and I truly love seeing her progress each and every session. Now 5 months pregnant, Janine thought she’d try some step ups. I filmed her on her weaker side. She told me that she finds hands off the handles helps her to access the muscles needed for this work
02.01.2022 It's been a big week and we're so thrilled to have been part of Women's Health Week 2020. We end the week with a FREE Pilates based movement session at 5pm today. We will go LIVE on Facebook, and together we will Pause, Relax & Take a Deep Breath xx
01.01.2022 I’ve dropped the ball with my push ups over the last few months. Don’t really know why because, let’s face it, they are the bomb in terms of overall full body strength building. There are so many variations from beginner to advance, you don’t need any equipment & what an invigorating way to start the day. I feel a challenge coming on Super Movers

01.01.2022 Group Fitness Class For Kids & Teens - https://mailchi.mp/401e5/group-fitness-class-for-kids-teens
01.01.2022 Anyone else ape around on a Tuesday? Anyone older than 40 that is?! Its fun to combine some playful primal movements with familiar exercises. The co-ordination alone is great for the mind and the entire physical body is at work
01.01.2022 Part 1 of Sandas Story: If Sting was female she would have written and sung Queen of Pain. That would be me. I have been suffering from chronic pain for well over ten years now. My sedentary work practices, sitting eight hours a day at my computer desk doesnt help one bit, but that's unavoidable work.... I have tried everything for pain relief. Physiotherapy , osteo therapy, myotherapy, hydrotherapy, dry needling, cupping, deep tissue massage, exercise , Pilates , pain killers, pain psychology. I have had a lot of good treatments but also not so good.I was once prescribed with psychotropic drugs by a pain specialist which , after a few weeks of blissful painlessness drove me to a meltdown. I once sought massage from a practitioner in Mornington who used to treat horses. Ouch ! He did not get my return visit. An osteo in Dandenong put me on the table and retrained my neuro pathways by letting me lie on the table while he played music and gently tapped my back , feather light taps.. After six months I left with no improvement despite him claiming how soft my spine had become. A pain psychologist told me to pace myself and made me aware that I was a recovering perfectionist, but she couldnt take my pain away. The only relief from pain has been due to regular movement, exercise and Pilates without which I cannot function. Mostly Pilates had been my saviour which I had practiced for a number of years. However over the last four months my pain had gradually worsened despite committing to move my body with exercise and Pilates. Still , I continued to push on. Working from home gave me the flexibility, so I could potentially take more breaks . I could do more exercise because of the time saved in not having to travel to work. But in reality working from home had put my body through tougher times. I had no ergonomic workstation. I spent longer hours at my desk. I missed out on my walks to the station and to the office. I miss out on the number of footsteps taken me to get around the office much larger than my home. Though by choice , I missed being outdoors more often ...
