24.01.2022 At 19 Craig was married and became a dad. By 22 he’d had a second son and was divorced but was seperated from his children. He lost his way big time and was caught up with the wrong crowd and made poor life decisions. Feeling helpless he became fuelled with anger and hopelessness. At 27 Craig tried drugs for the first time. He was instantly hooked. Six months later he ended up in prison. It was in prison that he found hope. As you listen to his incredible story may you also find HOPE. Hope comes in different ways to many. This is Craig’s story. Today he is a wonderful role model to so many men.

18.01.2022 GYMNASTICS / KARATE CHAMPION finds HOPE after ADDICTION Neil Gleeson has suffered more than most through his life. He grew up in the midst of alcoholism and in... his younger years moved around 20 times. In his teen years he was a budding professional sportsman, #gymnast and #karate champion who competed at the National Pan Pacific games but all that was stripped away due to a devastating battle with #alcoholism and drug addiction. In his darkest days he ended up homeless on the streets of Byron Bay at just 25 years of age. Miraculously he made his way to ‘William Booth Hostel’ and this sportsman and resilient butcher by trade received a second chance at life. Since that day Neil a 3rd degree black belt Martial arts teacher who has been fortunate enough to totally rebuild his life has done his life free of alcohol and drugs for the past twenty two years. Today he has a family of his own. He has a loving partner and is able to be a great dad and role model to not only his own children but to all who cross his path over many sectors. Neil will be sharing his story at next weeks On line Stories of HOPE Australia event to encourage everyone out there battling #addiction. He is living proof, that no matter what you go through in life, HOPE is possible. https://facebook.com/events/s/stories-of-hope-australia/324982305151821/?ti=icl

18.01.2022 ADDICTION - affects an entire family! For every parent out there who has a child battling addictions please visit our Stories of HOPE Australia Facebook page and listen to the story of Neil Gleeson. Raised in a home with an alcoholic dad Neil fell into a life of addictions himself. At the time he had the world at his feet. He was a gymnastic and martial arts champion competing in the Pan Pacific games at a national level. ... However, Neil was an alcoholic and had also become addicted to weed and other drugs. At 25 he became homeless. Such was the devastation of the disease he was battling. His mum never gave up hope of seeing the son she loved find recovery and remarkably his father became sober at the very time Neil was living on the streets. Neil had hit ROCK BOTTOM! Eventually after many months in a men’s rehab hostel in Sydney, Neil became sober. Today he has a family of his own and hasn’t touched substances or alcohol for 22 years. To any parent or family member out there, never give up believing for HOPE for your loved one who is struggling. Please join us tonight as we chat with Neil along with our other guest Lilli Sim's Journey With Craniofrontalnasal Dysplasia. 12.01.2022 Living life as a recovering alcoholic isn't for the faint hearted. Here I talk about what led me down the path of pill addiction and alcoholism and where it end...ed up one fateful day. The moment I decided I didnt want to live anymore. Someone saved my life that day. That night I made a decision that would change the course of the rest of my life. That was to get sober and never pick up another drink again. I knew I had no other choice. This was my very last chance and my very last stop. AA has been good to me. Life has been good to me. Even though very hard at times, living a life sober, is far greater than not having been around to live one at all. I look forward to the many opportunities down the track to share my story of Addiction and Recovery so I can help all those out there who are trudging through this same journey, to know that there is indeed HOPE after addiction. Please have a listen to this podcast if you’re someone who needs to hear a story of HOPE. There are many more great stories of resilience on Coffee Chats with Matt Collins. We recorded this chat a while ago with Matt Collins and In March, Matt has graciously agreed to emcee my second book launch Stories of HOPE Australia Volume two, Resilient people, Remarkable stories. Thankyou Matt for the huge difference you are making in lives around the globe by sharing peoples stories through your podcast. For all my many friends out there on the path of recovery, I wish you much love, peace, strength and HOPE on the journey and know this! YOU ARE NOT ALONE
