24.01.2022 Nexus ERP's new look storefront is looking good.

24.01.2022 The cost benefit of using the right tool for the job A common theme this week has been about people trying to save money not using the right tool for the job and how time has a value. If John is a landscaper and is paid $60 an hour for his time, purchasing a shovel for John to dig a hole will be more cost effective than giving him a teaspoon. John might only get a months worth of use out of the shovel and lets say it cost $40, but in reality if each hole takes 10 minute...s to dig, the first hole cost $50 10/60 ($10.00 in labour and $40 for the shovel). After that each hole costs $10.00 Not spending money on the shovel, it takes John four hours to dig the same hole with the teaspoon. This means that each hole costs 4 x 60 = $240 per hole. The same can be said for bookkeeping and accounting software. Lets say the bookkeeper charges $60.00 per hour. The cost of the accounting subscription software is $100.00 per month. Using the features in this software saves the bookkeeper 6 hours of entry time. Cost of the software was $100, the cost of the bookkeeper not using the right technology and having to manually enter the items 6 x 60 = $360. You would save $260 of fees a month by using the correct tool. I also like to use this analogy when looking at software modifications. A task that takes an employee 2 hours a day, means it costs 2 x wage rate+super+employee overheads (workers comp, payroll processing time) x 5 days a week. The modification might cost you $800 up front, but is paid for in time savings in a week. If you think it is expensive to use the correct software, think of how expensive it is using the incorrect software.

23.01.2022 20 Years on and these are still my two favorite accounting software packages. Things have changed a bit since then. File transfers were done via the dial up modem between branches and loading 50+ disc's to do an install until the CD's came out. Some of my clients will remember ringing the paging service for support!

23.01.2022 It is getting towards the end of the day, and thought that you would enjoy this. Just a reminder that your Super for the December quarter is due by the 28th as well. Have a great day, Heather

21.01.2022 If you think your internet is slow ..... in the past the estimated times to download were hilarious.

21.01.2022 Each year we tend to invest in some equipment for our business, that we will believe will benefit us for a few years. This year we have purchased a #ScanSnap. The speed at which this little device can scan and organise business reciepts and documents is amazing. I love how you can create various one touch scan buttons to save files into cloud folders (dropbox, hubdoc etc).

14.01.2022 I recently heard from the Chaplin at Nollamara Primary that 30% of the students do not have a suitable device to connect to the internet, to complete their courses online. This is highlighted during the current Corona Crisis, so they were seeking computer donations, that they could distribute out to these families to assist them. After a clean up of our office, we discovered we had several devices, that could be used, if the old data on them was removed. I spoke to my colleague Sean Hodnett @qbit IT regarding this and he has offered to do this side of this for us, so that these devices can be used for assisting the Chaplin's at youthcare, achieve this for these families. Thank you Sean, we appreciate you being able to assist us getting these devices cleared so we can donate them to a very worthy cause

13.01.2022 The local democracy sausage competition is very tight this year in my local area. As many of you might know I am the Volunteer Treasurer at my local scout group, so this will be one of our groups fundraisers for the year. Unfortunately, kid-sport voucher funding was taken away by the Government this financial year for Scouts, which effectively means no assistance for those in the community, whos kids really benefit by attending scouts. ... This Saturday, like many others in the community, I will be spending time, helping my community group. If you can afford it, please remember to take some change when you go to Vote, and help out your local community group.
