25.01.2022 I know many of you have been hanging out patiently, to be able to return for a session. We are still waiting for confirmation as to when this will be available. CURRENTLY - The current state of restriction will be extended for a further two weeks until September 27th. Uregent cases only. At this stage there will likely be an easing of restrictions, but it's a bit of a guessing game at the moment.... Remember that I am still available for Urgent cases in person, and all other cases via Telehealth, so if you feel like this is you, get in touch to see if you fit the criteria. In the meantime here is a good movement practice to keep you limber in your loungeroom With you :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11yTvAXyuJA

24.01.2022 short video showing the 'diagonal stretch' from Ido Portal Takes a few minutes, changes your day :) Things I like about this. 1) controlled and dynamic... 2) Non-linear 3) Engages the anterior diagonal chain (from one leg to the opposite arm) - When this chain engages, it is VERY powerful. Picture throwing a spear - Often chronically contracted from prolonged seated and hunched posture See more

23.01.2022 STAGE 4 Update The legislation is evolving as it is written on the fly, but here is where we currently stand. - Osteopathy, as an Allied Health service, is allowed to remain open to provide urgent or emergency care... - All patients are required to have a Referral Letter from their GP or specialist. It is at the discretion of the GP or specialist to decide what constitutes necessary care. - Providing Osteopathic services to someone without a referral would place both practitioner and patient in breach of the Stage 4 restrictions, with all associated penalties applying. - IF you have a referral letter, you are allowed to travel outside of the 5km radius to attend your appointment ONLY. Meaning, don't do your shopping or go for a walk after your session. Return to your 5km radius immediately following treatment. - Telehealth appointments are available via Phone or Zoom, WITHOUT need for a referral. This format would apply better to some patients than others. Feel free to discuss this option with me. These regulations may change over the coming weeks, but everything is up in the air currently. This is not about finding loopholes so you can leave the house. It is about providing care and support to those who need it during this 6 week period and beyond. Please reach out to me or other supports if you have questions or are feeling unsupported right now. Looking forward to working together in the capacity that we can, and supporting each other through this period. Warmly Drew

21.01.2022 Stage 4 UPDATE Short We are still OPEN... Long As an AHPRA registered Allied Health profession, Osteopathic services are to remain open during the Stage 4 Restrictions. You ARE allowed to travel outside the 5km radius to recieve care, including Osteopathic care. I recommend you keep a copy of your email or SMS booking confirmation on you whilst travelling, in-case you are questioned. There are increased hygiene measures including the mandatory use of masks for practitioner and patient, as well as eye protection (goggles etc) for the practitioner, and temperature check on arrival. As always we ask that you reschedule you appointment if you have ; - any symptoms of cold or flu, - have tested positive to COVID-19 or been exposed to someone who has - have been told to isolate by a government department. There will be no cancellation fees and no hard feeling for late cancellations associated with COVID-19. Look forward to continue working together as safely as possible :) Drew

20.01.2022 Today is RU Ok? Day In these times with COVID-19, its really important to check in with friends, family, colleagues. Is your gut instinct saying someone might n...ot be doing so well? Perhaps they're just not themselves and you've noticed a change in what they're saying or doing? You've got what it takes to ask "are you ok?" and make a difference. Follow RU Ok? Day here: https://www.ruok.org.au/get-involved See more

19.01.2022 I've also had a patient this week who was over dosing, as they were taking Panadol and Panadol-Osteo at the same time. Marketing can be dangerous, read the label

17.01.2022 Finally some news! Very Short Version: From September 28th, we are open to see a wider range of patients, with some restrictions still in place.... WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU? In essence you are able to come in if you are in pain, or if you are having trouble performing daily activities, but nor for a "check-up". NOT SURE IF THIS IS YOU? Contact me on 0403 889 551, or at [email protected] and we'll find out with a few simple questions. Longer Version: From September 28th, AHPRA-registered allied health professionals (Including Osteopathy) will be able to see patients for face-to-face services for a broader range of treatments than just preventing hospital admission, such as for pain management or to prevent a deterioration in functional independence, or delayed recovery time. This is in contrast to the previous restriction which only allowed appointments for cases which would otherwise require hospitalisation or in-home care. You will be able to book in online using the BOOK NOW button at the top of the page OR Contact me on 0403 889 551 I have been blown away by your resilience and willingness to engage in self management. If you are still in need of a helping hand, this is the time to reach out. Warmly Drew

15.01.2022 STAGE 4 UPDATE I've been putting off writing an update until I had something certain to relay, as the advice we had been receiving from DHHS, AHPRA and Osteopathy Australia has been changing every few hours. Final verdict is............ The State Government has ruled that all Allied Health, including osteo, physio, chiro should only treat urgent cases that are likely to result in escalation of care without treatment. This means conditions which may result in you attending the emergency room, or prevent you from performing essential activities of daily living such as caring for children if you do not come and see us. This includes physical, mental and emotional well-being. These measures are intended to reduce interaction and non-essential travel within the community. This will rule out in-person appointments for the majority of patients. If you are unsure if you fit this criteria, please call me to discuss it. If you are deemed urgent we can have a face to face appointment, whilst following all relevant hygiene measures. If you are non-urgent (as dictated by the legislation), we can have a telehealth appointment to discuss progress, self management, movement, embodiment and awareness practices. I know that some of you will have a hard time over the next 5 weeks without your scheduled appointments, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you are concerned. I will also be releasing some resources on the FaceBook page to help you in the interim. Looking forawrd to working together in the capacity that we can :) Drew

I will now be wearing a face mask during your treatment as per Department of Health recommendations, and I will be checking temperatures at the beginning of each consult.... 05.01.2022 I really enjoyed this video for a No equipment functional movement routine. A serious workout for mobility and strength, without a barbell or burpee in sight! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IM5dfg4ndQ

04.01.2022 Don't know much about the author of this, but agree wholeheartedly with this content. I see this issue constantly in session. I also see it's sister issue of 'quiet mind', where people strive for no thought as the intention of their meditation practice (or broader worlds) resulting in much frustration and self berating. Being with what is. Presence.
