21.01.2022 The days of writing and receiving letters via the post hold fond memories for many, but for our young generation it's quite a novelty. When lockdowns and learning from home were in place earlier this year, Chappy Sam inspired the children at her school to write for a reason. 19.01.2022 A child has been born for us. We have been given a son who will be our ruler. His names will be Wonderful Advisor and Mighty God, Eternal Father and Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (CEV) #reasonfortheseason
16.01.2022 Save The Date! Camp Leaders Weekend is a key event for SU QLD Volunteers to come together, network and be trained in camp and community outreach ministry.... It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and be developed for impacting your community for Jesus. You’ll also have the chance to relax and have fun around Coolum. All leaders are required to complete training annually, so why not do it over an enjoyable weekend with a bunch of like-minded leaders. Registrations open soon!
16.01.2022 Congratulations to our #ChappyOfTheMonth for February 2021 Amie Duck! We asked Amie some questions so you could get to know her a bit better! ' ? I love a good steak and my mum’s chicken spaghetti.... ? 3 years. ? Bohlevale State School ? Chappy/Chappy Duck ? The best part is helping people and minimising the stresses or worries in their life at the time. ? As weird as it sounds, one child who once had bad social anxiety no longer needed me to comfort them. Watching them play with other kids filled me with joy ? ' ? I run a breakfast club of toast and fresh fruit which the kids love. I also run kids club on lunch breaks where kids can come to relax and bounce around to a variety of activities (e.g. arts and crafts, puzzles, just dance, quiet corner to read a book and many more). ? It’s important for kids to know they have someone in their corner through the good and bad times. Being a chaplain gives me the opportunity to help whoever needs me without them worrying about getting into trouble or judgment. It is important for kids to know they have someone like that available to them who isn’t in a place of authority within the school. If you think your chappy deserves to be the next #ChappyOfTheMonth - send a message to our Facebook page and tell us why!

11.01.2022 In Australia we have charted the year better than most countries, graciously, but even here we have experienced huge doses of fear, frustration, isolation and disruption. As if this was not enough, we have also seen vast bush fires, global racial conflicts, and fierce divisions over politics, vaccines and almost every issue of importance. So we come up to Christmas, surrounded by the familiar and strangely comforting trappings of carols, decorations and shopping. In such a different year this public holiday is looming with extra meaning and value. In our final #familyspace blog of the year, Tim Fawssett reflects on what he's finding hope in this Christmas season. You can read his thoughts here: https://www.suqld.org.au//christmas-day-2020-a-reason-to-/

09.01.2022 Having a child with special needs brings it's own set of challenges (and joys) to parenthood. We asked one such parent to write this story - reflecting on how chaplaincy can make a huge difference in the lives of children, particularly those in need that little extra help... 09.01.2022 My story is what got me into chaplaincy. I didn’t want any other child to go through what I went through. - Chappy Amanda. When Chappy Amanda was 7 years old - her dad passed away in a car crash. I never had any support, and wasn’t even allowed to attend his funeral. I still remember it as the moment that changed my family forever, Chappy Amanda recalls.... Her journey through this tough time inspired her to be trained and equipped to help others in need. It's this training that helped her support Locky at a critical time in his young life. When Locky’s dad passed away on his 9th Birthday, Chappy Amanda was there. She collected meals for the family to freeze, and helped Locky and his mum plan their dad’s funeral. More than 100,000 Queensland children don’t have access to a school chaplain. This Christmas, will you help reach more children in need? You can donate to our Good News Appeal at the link below. Click here: http://suqld.org.au/give #GoodNewsAppeal #LockysStory

03.01.2022 Just before Locky’s 9th birthday, his dad fell sick. His family thought it was the flu, but soon it became clear - something was seriously wrong... Locky’s dad passed away on his 9th birthday. In the following weeks, months and years, Chappy Amanda was a constant presence for Locky and his mum, walking them through the funeral process, providing meals, and being a safe person to speak with.... Your support makes this possible. Without your support, there would have been no Amanda in Locky’s story - a caring, trusted and trained chaplain. We’re running our Good News Appeal between now and 31 December - please help us reach our fundraising target of $76,000! These funds will directly resource, train and support new school chaplains and youth workers across Queensland. Your tax-deductible gift will help ensure that more young people like Locky will be supported in their moments of crisis. To donate or watch Locky’s full story, click here: http://suqld.org.au/give #GoodNewsAppeal #LockysStory
