21.01.2022 Yesterday evening, Friday 6/11/20, at about 5pm, a young male got into difficulties just on the north side of cabarita headland. He was swimming with a group of friends when he got in trouble. He was assisted back to shore and members of the public notified cabarita Slsc who attended and provided 1st aid. Ambulance and duty officers attended the scene and the patient was transported in a stable condition to tweed hospital.
19.01.2022 Just after lunchtime today, 31/10/2020, Surf lifesaving FNC was notified of an incident on the north side of the Brunswick river - New Brighten Beach. Brunswick SLSC were tasked along with 2 duty officers and NSW ambulance. The isolated location made access and communications very difficult. Once on scene lifesavers began treating a 38y.o male for spinal injuries. Ambulance and duty officers with the support 4wd arrived shortly after. Due to the injuries and location, an ambulance helicopter was tasked where the patient was transported to the PA Hospital for treatment.
12.01.2022 Police are re-appealing for public assistance to locate a woman missing from a property about 15km north of Ballina. Elizabeth Forman, aged 72, was last seen wa...lking on her property in Brooklet about 11.40am last Thursday (1 October 2020). Police were notified when she failed to return home and began searching the surrounding area, without success. Officers from Richmond Police District have continued searching with assistance from the Police Dog Unit, Police Rescue, SES volunteers, NSW Surf Lifesaving and Westpac Rescue Helicopter; however, Mrs Forman is still missing. Following further inquiries, Richmond PD officers assisted by Police Rescue, the Dog Unit and SES volunteers will conduct a further land search today (Friday 9 October 2020), in an area approximately 3km north from where she was last seen. Police and her family have concerns for her wellbeing due to her having a medical condition. Elizabeth is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of a thin build, about 173cm tall, with dyed short blue hair. She was last seen wearing a navy top and black leggings. Police are urging local residents to conduct a thorough search of their properties in nearby suburbs, including Brooklet, Newrybar, Nashua, Possum Creek and Bangalow. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 11.01.2022 At around 6:30pm this evening Far North Coast Support Operations teams were called out to a surfer in distress at Suffolk Park. Lifesavers from Byron Bay and Ballina attended as well as Police, Ambulance and Westpac 4 from Lismore. A thorough search was conducted from Broken Head to Cape Byron. Police called off the search at sunset.
09.01.2022 Just after 1am this morning Far North Coast Surf Lifesaving Support Operations were contacted by Surf Lifesaving Emergency Response System after Police informed of a missing 24 year old in water off Belongil Beach, Byron Bay. Duty Officers responded to the location and liaised with Police. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the location and conducted a search utilising night vision goggles. Far North Coast Support Operations assisted with a coastal search utilising FLIR (Forward Looking Infra Red) device. After approx a hour and half the male was located by Police safe and well at a private residence. This is a timely reminder to only swim at patrolled beaches and never under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
08.01.2022 Around lunchtime today Surf Lifesaving Far North Coast Support Operations personnel were tasked by the Richmond LAC to assist with the search for a missing female from Fernleigh Road Brooklet. Surf Lifesaving Far North Coast Support Operations personnel used a UAV (Drone) to search dams and creeks on several nearby properties without success. SLSFNC Branch personnel will possibly be re-tasked tomorrow to the same search by Police.
