25.01.2022 Today at 14:50 members of the public notified Surf Rescue 50s Crew who where on standby at base at Kiama Harbour regarding a POI (Person of Interest) in distress 1.5km off the harbour. Surfcom was notified and Surf Rescue 50 was quickly launched with the 3 to 4 foot surge at the boat ramp making the launch difficult. Sr50 shortly after reached the patient navigating the 5 meter swell to do so. After getting the POI aboard the crew then took the POI to the harbour and assisted ashore. Afterwards the crew waited for additional resources to retrieve the vessel in the swell. A successful job done in less than ideal circumstances

21.01.2022 If you stay home and stay safe, we stay home and stay safe. One way to slow the spread of viruses, such as coronavirus, is social distancing (also called physical distancing). The more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread. #staysafestayhome

With rising swell and tide, going back to land was deemed too dangerous to both the life of the fisherman and the rescue swimmer. The decision was made to return the Fisherman back to the vessel ...(seen below). Negotiating the waves the rescue swimmer was able to get out of the wave break after minutes and with the skill of the driver and radio operator in the dangerous conditions retrieved the patient from the water there he was taken back to Kiama harbour and transferred to NSW Ambulance Officers for assessment.
