22.01.2022 Which of these two meals do think would be best for a pregnant mum? So often we are told how healthy a salad is. But I have reservations. Why does it matter? Because you may either be making yourself hundreds of dredded raw salads throughout your pregnancy (and feeling yuck) or kicking yourself that you aren't. By all means, if it feels good go for it; it's you others I'm talking to.... Meals aren't just a bag of nutrients. They have qualities. They are, in our traditional western medicine language, warming or cooling. You might have heard this with Traditional Chinese Medicine but hey, if your European descent like me, we have this too! Of course we do; try finding a culture which doesn't. Think about an iceblock going into your body. It is going to take energy to warm up and melt yes? So do raw/cooling foods. They require effort from our body to break down those cell walls and get the nutrients from the inside. Nourishing foods include soups, stews, broths, slow cooked meals. Meals we give to the elderly or those who are sick. Somehow we have forgotten to extend these to pregnant and breastfeeding mums who are instead making the biggest demands of themselves to "eat more healthy". Each raw meal feeling more and more depleted. The truly nourishing meals at this time are those that have been 'digested' by the fire. Even eaten cold they will be warming. They don't ask much of you. They are like a nutrient rich, internal hug. If your meal looks "cosy" then it's spot on!

11.01.2022 Have you tried? Scared it will start labour? Or didn't get anything? Let's look at why, how and when of pre-natal expressing

03.01.2022 A good breastfeeding hold is critical; it can be the difference between your baby opening up their mouth wide or a small tight mouth (ouch!) Not to mention tension becomes reflux... A good hold is just like a good handshake- firm, secure, plenty of contact and flexible. Try this experiment with your support partner and you will never forget this key.... Shaking hands only, no words or clues, try to convey one of these four feelings- control, fragile, confidence, and fear. See if your partner can guess which one. See more
