24.01.2022 BASIC YOGA RULES 1. Start every standing pose in Anatomical position. 2. During Anatomical Position center yourself and visualize the pose you are about to exe...cute. 3. Enter the pose on an exhalation and in good alignment, grace and control. 4. During the pose invest at least 90% of effort and fully extend, stretch, compress or twist the areas of the body exercised during the pose. 5. While in the pose be mindful to the physical and mental sensations generated by your effort and difficulty of the pose. 6. Manage your breath during the pose by breathing slowly and mindfully, direct your inhalations to the exposed areas of your lungs and use your diaphragm and assisting respiratory muscles to effectively exhale. 7. All the poses should be held for at least five regulated breaths to be effective and fully beneficial. 8. Exit the pose on an exhalation, follow the same steps you executed when you entered it in reverse and return to Central position to regroup before moving on to another pose. See more

24.01.2022 ON THE PATH OF YOGA Establishing a good yoga foundation requires discipline, knowledge of the sequence of postures chosen to be practiced, determination and ...patience. Ideally, practice should be done in a well ventilated yoga space. The space should be warm to help warm-up the body faster. When the space is too hot your yoga practice suffers. Your energy can be used up to quickly making your practice sluggish and painful. Using mirrors can help correct faulty alignment but detrimental when used for self criticism. The right environment for yoga is essential to cultivate physical vitality and mental alertness which are fundamental on the path of yoga. #tonysanchezyoga #yogachallenge http://tonysanchez.yoga See more

19.01.2022 CULTIVATING ENERGY DEVELOPING THE BODY We all know physical and mental energy is the currency of the the day. We also know that the best way to cultivate and n...urture this energy is by taking care of the body properly with a healthy well balanced diet an a good yoga practice. I believe that there are no exceptions to this rule. Remember not all postures are equally beneficial for everyone, some are better suited than others and no body can build their body and their mind without a well balanced diet based on his or her personal needs. #yoga #mindfulness #wellness #tonysanchezyoga See more

18.01.2022 DAILY YOGA PRACTICE Practicing yoga in the daily basis will improve your physical strength, flexibility and balance and will develop your ability to control, s...ettled and focus your mind effectively. Do the Standing Deep Breathing first to focus the mind and warm-up the body in preparation for the poses that follow. Take under consideration that everyone is unique in his or her own right. For that reason even in a group class you should modified the poses if necessary to accommodate your needs. A well trained and knowledgeable teacher should be able to guide you in a safe and progressive manner during the class so you can get the most out of your practice. Be careful when following outdated instructions such as lock your knee or contract your thigh and buttocks muscles to protect your back. Those outdated instruction create to much stress on the knees, legs and lower back which will eventually lead to injury. A good yoga teacher understands body mechanics and guides his or her students towards a sustainable practice even if takes a little longer to master the poses. See more

14.01.2022 FASCIA :: EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED :: This video is a great visual of how our fascial system functions. Fascia is the biological fabric that holds us together, t...he connective tissue network of our body. I’ve found that this system is one of the missing links in our current Western chronic pain treatment model. When it comes to treating pain, as a myofascial release therapist, I look for the pain and then look elsewhere for the cause. This video is a great way to understand what we mean when we use the term kinetic chain. We can see how there is a line of pull to each movement. Often when there are fascial restrictions, it cause is tremendous pressure in or body as well as pull our entire structure out of alignment. #kineticreleasetherapy Thanks Kiyan Forootan for creating this video and your brilliant 3D work!

12.01.2022 COMPOSITION OF THE HUMAN BODY According to ancient yoga believes the human body is composed of the five elements: 1. Akasa (space) representing spirit which co...ntrols the liver, gall bladder and the nervous system. 2. Vayu (air) representing prana also known as the deity of life, controls the lungs, large intestine and respiratory system. 3. Tejas (fire) representing energy, creativity and personal power, controls the heart, the small intestine and the circulatory system. 4. Apas (water) representing will, controls the kidneys, bladder and excretory system. 5. Prithvi (earth) representing the structure of the physical body, controls stomach, pancreas, spleen and digestive system. There are specific asanas designed to work on specific elements, related organs and systems in the human body. A knowledgeable practitioner of yoga should know how to organized the asanas for better results. Along the way ancient yogis learned that the practice of asana without breath control was unproductive, they learned to manage Vayu (air) first by becoming aware and exerting control over their respiratory system. They understood that by properly managing their breath during the practice of asana they could control all the other systems including their functions effectively. This combination of asana and breath control brought Hatha yoga to another level. #mindfulness #awareness #yoga #tonysanchezyoga See more

08.01.2022 YOGA AND THE HEART The heart is a muscular organ designed to pump blood through the vessels in the circulatory system. The blood is the transporter of nutrients..., oxygen, carbon dioxide and hormones to and from the cells in the body to provide nourishment, stabilize temperature and fight disease. The physical condition of your heart dictates the level of health you experience. Even though yoga is considered isometric exercise and not cardiovascular exercise it strengthens and develops the heart in a gradual and progressive way. These benefits are generated by combining poses that will speed up heart rate such as Balancing Stick (Tuladandasana) and Bow Pose (Dhanurasana) with poses that decrease the heart rate such as Half Tortoise (Ardha Kurmasana) and Savasana (Corpse pose). Challenging and then relaxing the heart will stimulate and strengthen the heart tissue. Most yoga poses in combination with proper breathing can lower blood pressure and quiet the nervous system. #yoga #wellness #heart #tonysanchezyoga See more
