24.01.2022 Surf Rescue 30 Weekend Wrap It was perfect weather conditions across the eastern beaches. The weekend crew were very lucky to spot some amazing marine life from Seals, Whales, Dolphins and more. Our members are continually maintaining their skills and knowledge taking opportunities to train on patrol under the guidance of our amazing Skippers. This weekend our members were training in Crew, Drivers and Skipper awards.... We were also joined by Surf Life Saving Sydney Support Ski 3 who also trained alongside SR3O in rock rescues helping us all work together to protect our communities who love our coastline as much as us! 20.01.2022 Surf Rescue 30 urges everyone to stay safe as we approach the busy summer period. Our crews were in attendance today in Sydney Harbour along side our friends in other emergency services.

20.01.2022 Surf Rescue 30 attended a SAREX organized by Surf Life Saving Sydney. At 1.15pm a call out was activated across Surf Life Saving Sydney, Randwick District assets for a capsized vessel off Gordons Bay; 1 POI last sighted off Coogee Bombie and 1 POI last seen inside Gordons Bay. Surf Rescue reponded with a call out team alongside Surf Life Saving Sydney Support Operations teams and assests. These training sessions help improve our teams across the branch to work together and le...arn new skills. 2 weeks until flags up and our team is Rescue Ready for the season ahaead. 14.01.2022 At 2.15pm today Surf Rescue 30 was tasked to a possible missing kayaker at Gordon's Bay near Clovelly after a kayak and paddle were sighted unattended in the bay. Surf Rescue 30 made its way from Malabar to Clovelly in 3 metre southerly swells with winds gusting to 37kph, poor visibility and torrential rain. This was a multi agency effort with with Surf Lifesaving Sydney Branch Duty Officers, Jet Ski's 3 and 4, Bronte, Clovelly and Coogee IRB's, Randwick City Council Lifeguar...ds, Lifesaver 21 Helicopter Rescue and NSW Police all in attendance. Following a 90 minute search, SR30 and other assets were stood down as it was reported that the person was located safe and well at home. 11.01.2022 Over the 12 months from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020, a total of 49 lives were lost on the NSW coastline, representing a 14% increase on last year’s figure and well above the 16-year average of 42 fatalities per year. Surf Rescue 30 volunteers work tirelessly to help prevent loss of life along our spectacular coastline applying teachings and philosophies of surf lifesaving to beyond the beaches. 10.01.2022 Today new Duty Officers took the opportunity to build on their skills by visiting the NSW State Operations Centre (SOC) and our rescue vessel SR30 in Malabar.

06.01.2022 Today Surf Rescue 30 was tasked alongside various response agencies as part of a search and rescue exercise coordinated by Sydney Airport. At approximately 10.10am we were notified of the mock-incident and deployed Offshore Rescue craft, callsign Surf Rescue 30. Our vessel led a line search off runway 34R with Surf Life Saving and Council Lifeguard assets to help locate up to 30 manikins. The exercise concluded at 11.30am and our crew returned to base to pack up and debrief. Thank you Nick, John & Jake for volunteering.

06.01.2022 #RESCUE Surf Rescue 30 are presently assisting a vessel in distress approximately 1nm off Coogee Beach after the vessel began to take on water while fishing. The two male occupants onboard are uninjured and will be guided by SR30 back to Sydney Harbour where Marine Rescue NSW will complete the transfer through Sydney Heads. 05.01.2022 #RECAP Incase you missed it, our rescue vessel Surf Rescue 30 was out in Sydney Harbour on Monday reminding the public of the importance of aquatic safety heading into summer. The crew consisting of Doug, Coco, Fiona & Tom took the opportunity to become more familar with the harbour and met up with our friends at Marine Area Command - NSW Police Force for a tour of WP21. 03.01.2022 Surf Rescue 30 is the only water-based SLS asset in Surf Life Saving Sydney Branch that is permitted to be deployed at night. Surf Life Saving is experiencing an increasing number of NSW Police taskings from 13SURF to respond to various marine incidents day and night. On Friday night 2nd October 2020 6 x SR30 members took part in a night training scenario including both theory and practical night operations familiarisation.... Members covered: - Preparation, - Weather conditions and risk assessments - night vision, - COLREGs, navigation markers & lights, - Vessel systems and aids - Radar basics and FLIR - restricted visibility - Short case study. Following the theory members conducted night operations on Botany Bay and offshore waters from Malabar putting into practice topics covered in the theory session.
